Well think of it logically. Rogers is on the 1 receiver most of the time now....he really isnt capable so they always provide him with some sort of help over the top....With springs on the 1 receiver they feel more comfortable in his coverage thus less help rolling to his side. Rogers did a decent job on the 1 receivers(TO did nothing against us) it was pretty much their 2nd and 3rd receivers who owned us with the exception in johnson. BUT with Rogers covering their 2nd guys im sure he will do a better job than wright and Springs on the first guy...this opens us up for the blitz.... OH YES we will blitz hard and often :-) SO basically Although it seems a tad weird Springs is affecting us this much...logically it makes sense!!

I really believe the threat of a shutdown corner, which springs was at onetime, puts a little bit of fear in the oppostions game planning. With that being said i dont think anyone fears wright, rumph, and rogers. Springs is that difference maker in the secondary. My biggest fear is that springs wont make it back in time. the last i have read of his situation is he probably wont even make the giants game. to have any hope of beating the colts we need him healthy.

We really need CBs. I think that is the weakest link on the team. With the exception on kicking maybe

We definitely miss him in coverage, but his blitzing is probably the bigger issue. Neither Rogers nor Wrumph (the Wright/Rumph combo on the other side) has the speed, strength, or skill of Springs in a blitz package.

There may be one positive in Springs being out is that other have to fill in and will/may improve over this 5 game span. We have gave up some big plays but the D has kepp us in all of our games and its been the lack of production from our O which has hurt us. I will admitt that Dallas did drop alot of balls but that was a game in which our D was on the field for alot of the game.

I was really hoping he'd be back this week because we really need a guy on defense. I dont think the Jaguars have a great offense, but they can still score some points, and Springs could make a huge difference if in and healthy.
We really need this man back in action.

Re: Springs Doubtful for Jaguars Game

My prediction regarding Springs is he's not going to be 100% until the middle of the season at least. I wouldn't be suprised if he doesn't play at all this year.

Just my gut feeling.

You know, I was feeling the same thing and was going to start a new thread on that subject. I don't know what is going on here. It seems like everyone that does interviews at Redskins park doesn't seem to want to talk about it. From Joe to Gregg and even Vinny on the noon show yesterday acts like they don't know what the status of springs is, WTF??? Everyone should listen to the archive file on Redskins.com from yesterdays show. Vinny was asked about Springs and he said something like I don't really know, Springs saw his specialist and everything is really up to HIM at this point. If you listen to the tone in Vinny's voice when he said that, it really tells the whole story. I consider Springs to be the best player we have on D and for the coaches to act like they have no clue as to what is going on is VERY ODD...

Reminds me alot of LaVar's knee situation, without all the drama of course.

Springs is seeing specialists, he's week to week... I don't like the chances of him coming back any time soon.

Man, we must be on same the wave length or something. I was thinking the exact same thing. Last year with Arrington started out like he's hurt and cant play but we never got any real answer about it. As the season progressed well, we all know how that ended up. All we herd was next week, next week, Hopefully he'll be ready to go and thats all were hearing now. I just want to know what is exactly wrong with Springs. Not he tweaked his groin or some kind of laceration thing. I mean do they not have a actual diagnosis for this guy or what??? I don't know but I feel like this season has started just about as bad as can be. Does anybody get the feeling like there has been some regrettable decisions about how this organization has been run sofar this season. Starting with how the preseason was handled to the way Coach has let decisions about playing be up to the players kinda thing. I almost feel like Joe is letting all the decisions be made up to everyone else or something. I don't even want to say it, but do you think that this may be Joe's last year here!

It seems like this is a case of the cure being worse than the disease.

Re: Springs Doubtful for Jaguars Game

if PP wasn't on IR i'd feel better about the whole secondary :/ I think taylor is a good match up for bigger WRs and him in man + PP in zone is better than ST in zone + rumph in man/zone.

Re: Springs Doubtful for Jaguars Game

luckily, they only have tall slow WRs, and we've only got tall slow DBs. not as bad a matchup as andre johnson or terry glenn.
