Re: Has anyone else completely lost faith in the military?

They'er at the fore front because they are one of our countries largest employer and a very visible organization. They're not "just another company". Plus they're aren't like a real company in the sense that they don't just have offices where people work and go home. Military is a life-style employment. You live on base, are trained there, work there, eat there, etc... They're not "singled out". But I get what you're saying.

Re: Has anyone else completely lost faith in the military?

there's certain areas of concern. where i was, it really wasn't an issue.

everyone's heard about something at the academy, and there's a reason for it. there are issues there.

if you get stuck in a deployment with people you don't know and you're one of the 5% of females in that situation... there's an issue of not having people looking out for you.

the leadership where i was took that and safety stuff very very seriously, and we didn't have those kinds of problems (and our unit was pretty big and 95% male and on year round deployments of some sort), so i can only speak of things i've heard second hand from others where that may not have been the case.

I don't live in another country. I live in one where the citizens of this country have a right to privacy, and one where the government is supposed to have a legal warrant to obtain the type of information they are currently obtaining.

As it is, they are shitting on the Constitution and using the guise as "protecting" us as the excuse. They aren't protecting us from anything, and they have no right to invade our privacy as such.

**** the Patriot Act and **** the rest of the cock suckers in Congress supporting this shit.

Easiest way to get AW's dander up say something less then glowing about the military.

As for losing faith, the military has a ton of flaws and is grossly over spent on, but in terms of the big three, media govt and military, I still have the most faith in the military. Most who go in are doing it and accepting that their life may be lost in defense of higher values. most politicians and media, imo, are first after there self glory, and national principles 2nd at best.

Re: Has anyone else completely lost faith in the military?

This thread took a turn for the stupid. Set the emotional reactions aside and ask yourself whether there is any evidence that the cover ups happening in the military are happening more often than they happen elsewhere... At college fraternities, in high schools, in social circles, etc. now that light has been shined on it they better fix it, but the light needs to be shined on so many parts of society, the military is only a microcosm.

Of course it's a widespread issue across society.

Doesn't matter where it happens, a scandal like this is still worth talking about, no? Or is it a non story as G2 suggests?

I think someone is perhaps a little too biased to see the story for what it is. Sort of like the Penn St lifers who thought Joe Pa was an angel right to the bitter end.

True. But I don't think Matty was trying to compare it to other parts of society necessarily, just looking at the military alone. And, right or wrong, many have higher expectations of the military than they may have of other areas

And what kind of moron puts any blame on the media for this?

I dont know?
What kind?
Are you calling me a moron?
I have already stated I blame congress for creating the conditions.
And read what I wrote on page three about not blaming the media.
Unless you dont care what I write and want to creat your own version.
