Flacco got merked. Qbs that wait too long to slide will get hurt. If you don't want to get hit slide way early. You don't get the best of both worlds. All the yards and a nice cute slide. Pick what you want, yards or no contact.

It’s a tough call, I don’t think Flacco intentionally waited until the last second to slide and I also don’t think Alonso was intentionally trying to hurt him.
It’s a bang-bang play and both guys had to make split second decisions. It’s football, it’s going to be violent sometimes. |
