Moss off limits to trade. He is the veteran we keep with the youngsters. You need a mix of experience and youngstrers.

Re: Report: Cooley to IR today

Was that you I heard on EITM this morning?

"Am I on the air? What? Uhhhh I wanted the audio about Cooley?"

Gave me a chuckle.

No trade of Cooley, we will have a strong 2 tight end set next year. Glad to see him go on IR though.

Re: Report: Cooley to IR today

I mostly agree with both Ruhskins and BigHaired.

I think we look to see what we can get for folks like Moss, Rogers, Portis, or Campbell. We try to do this first.

Failing this, precisely because Cooley is our best player he might make the best trade to stockpile some picks. His injury status could hurt his trade value, though. We can't trade him cheaply, we should look to get a first and another later pick. With those picks we theoretically could upgrade the entire right side of the o-line, for example. This may be of greater value to us than two fine tight ends.

Even with two tight end sets, how are we going to get full value out of both Cooley and Davis? If they both have 65 catches, our wide receivers will see few balls.

As for Haynesworth, I don't see that trade happening. If someone else wanted to pay him as much as he is getting, they would have done so when we signed him.

Stockpiling picks and having a team where everyone is under 25 years old is not necessarily the best way to build up a team. We already have a lot of young players that will make an impact (some already are) in the future (Kelly, Thomas, Davis, Tryon, Barnes, Orakpo, Jarmon, Rhinehart).

The team could easily get some picks by tendering Rogers and/or Campbell (well maybe Campbell, I doubt anyone would give up anything for Rogers). You could try trading Moss if any team will take him (shit, if Greg Lewis will get you a 4th rounder from the Pats, I'm sure we could get at least that from any team).

Having a ton of picks does not equate to success. And this team has already a lot of young players that they can build upon in the future. It is very foolish to get rid of your best player, especially on the offensive side of the ball where this team has been lacking.
Good post!

You and I are pretty much by ourselves on this one, but I do agree.

Not so fast .... we have a trifecta . Not that I want to trade players , but we aren't winning with the guys we have , and if some team is willing to part with fair value < or more > , you have to be willing to pull the trigger .

Well that was a somewhat straight up trade. I mean are people looking to get the Herschel Walker trade all over again with Cooley?

No I think the tehory is that no player should ever be untradeable. If someone did offer us a 1 and a 3 then we'd be dumdum not to take it. It's perhaps over-value but not Herschel Walker trade over-value.

Damn...LOL.

Well I think none of them wanted to be with the team that traded them and/or were becoming problems in the locker room.

I was wrong to assume that no Pro Bowler in his prime was ever traded...but the examples given were of players who demanded a trade and didn't want to play for that particular team anymore. I don't think Cooley is in that situation, and this team can probably rebuild without having to part with Cooley.

Well you can call the Roy Williams trade the Herschel Walker Trade Part II.
