I think people are underselling Flowers. Watch the 1's, and Flowers specifically, on power runs to the left, he opened the lane for AP and Guice's biggest runs. We will have to help the left side in passing but you pull Scherf around and Guice and AP are going to be explosive.

this... he's been a bit of a road grader on some of the runs. However, he's going to have plays that are so bad that you wonder why is he playing in the first place, like the play on the goaline last week.

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread

So I’ve heard his name a couple times, Keim saying he could make the roster:

“Jay Gruden said of WR Steven Sims: “electric. Has the speed to separate... has a ways to go as far as getting ready to play. I love the prospect of getting the ball in his hands.” He has a definite shot to make this roster. ...”

So 2 Sims at WR?

Mclaurin, Richardson, Quinn, Harmon, Davis, Cam Sims. I think he ends up in the PS.

I think he should be in the slot and we may see him there cause there is no way that Quinn will stay on the field.

I would really be on the hunt for guards and tackles during cuts. Also if a stud is cut at ILB, I’d probably would grabbed him.

I'm shocked that not only did Flowers make the team but he's actually going to be starting. Flowers and 36 year old Penn. This is going to be a shit show on obvious passing downs.

I think we'll finally be able to answer the age-old question, is having a road grader run blocker worth having a traffic cone pass blocker.

I suspect the answer is no.

I bet Martin comes in on 3rd and long passing situations. Which of course would be very Gruden-esque in tipping our play calls. But on 1st and 2nd, we ought to be using a ton of play action in order to take advantage of what should be a highly effective run game.

Also, I don't think this line will be worse than Minnesota's 2017 line, and Keenum was adept at making something out of nothing. Yes our WR's have to step up, but the fact they look to be moving on from Doctson gives me hope that the newbies will be what they look to be.

I hate Flowers but if the plan is to be a run heavy team than I guess I can see where this makes sense. Just hope Martin will be ready to go sooner rather than later.

"Inside linebacker Jon Bostic wasn't signed until June and will be playing for his fifth NFL team, but earned a starting job rather quickly. He'll also call plays. One reason: preparation. Bostic said he watched the last two years of Redskins games "multiple times" so he could see how opposing coordinators attacked them. He wanted to find the weaknesses in the defense so he could anticipate a coordinator's moves. Bostic asked one rookie he didn't want to name if he had watched last year's games. He was told no; he explained to the rookie why it was important; the rookie watched the games. "It's kind of weird," Bostic said. "When I go to the house that's the stuff I do when I'm bored. I watch football. Coordinators tendencies don't change regardless of what stop they're at."

The more I learn about Bostic, the more I like him. I wonder why he bounced around in the NFL since last few years and I remember he played well with Steelers last year. I'm glad Bostic is more than a stopgap player, this definitely will benefit our rookie defense players in long run.

We haven't heard anything except fantastic quotes about Bostic since we signed him.

All these hype tidbits are great, but the reality is he's been a journeyman the last few years. For all these articles we've read praising his prep, he still has to prove it on the field. We'll know shortly enough if there's a reason he's bounced around.

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread

I think that mistakes by Flowers will force them to bring in Martin. Sooner rather than later. He’s the future.

You know if we had made some kind of monster trade with Houston, we could have fixed the OL with one draft.

I’m more worried about the Penn / Christian tandem than Flowers / Martin.
