Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
The idea that we're not close... well we're certainly not getting any closer dicking around with the likes of Heinicke or someone like Jimmy G.
I think Ron knows they need to swing for the fences at QB this offseason. |

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Agree. There is so much up in the air in the NFC right now. TB will take a step back. NO is in a state of transition. GB might have the best QB in the NFC but will be losing a lot of talent. AZ is always a question mark after October. There are plenty of playoff teams that are not close. I don't see LA having two consecutive years of career year success for so many players and they are clearly top of the heap in NFC.

You cant keep saying "we are not that close" A franchise QB makes you close

Yep, sure they have Chase but without Burrow they would still suck

The Bengals defense was Horrible last yr.. A QB can change everything. I know it sounds desperate but its a fact

Remember when we played the Bengals in Burrow's rookie year? The only reason we won that game cause Burrow got hurt. We couldn't stop them and that was before they drafted Chase. |

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Even if you have a good defense without a QB it is irrelevant. The Bears had a great D in the aughts went to a Super Bowl with Grossman but were constantly in a struggle to make the playoffs. Same with Denver. A good D gets you to a place where some years you'll win 10 some years you'll lose 10. Nothing special.

It isn’t like the choice is A ) get a franchise quarterback B) address the defense and roll with TH We can get a franchise quarterback and still upgrade our D thru the draft and or FA. We get a safety and some linebacker help and our D will be vastly improved. Don’t have to be all pro’s either just above average guys. Our D was improving last year, but we also were missing Sweat and CY for huge amounts of time. Im counting on CY coming back strong, getting some new blood, and maybe Davis taking a step forward in year two. We have continuity in the coaching ranks which should help also. We get Russ, and we are a contender even with last years team. But we also will be getting some new blood thru picks and FA. Don’t underestimate what a franchise quarterback can do for a team though. We see it all the time, it is just never us. |
