I can't see the guy playing OLB in our system unless we're going to teach him to cover and make plays in space. And finally i don't see him as a a run-blocking monster at LDE...so again not sure where Orakpo fits but i guess we can say the Skins took the BPA at 13...that's nice.
I've been thinking about it (and I haven't seen the presser with Vinny if he said anything) but I actually don't see a reason why Orakpo can't play the LDE position. He is 266, he is strong as hell ... what I am saying is that he is not a 235 lbs. Jason Taylor. In fact, if you read the profile of him on NFL.com it says he might be better suited to the strong side because "he lacks great explosion and pass rush off the edge." I haven't watched full game tapes of the guy, obviously, but it seems to me he can set the edge and offer some pressure from the strong side.

Be the best case scenario if it worked there...I hope his body can take the pounding at LDE.

...was very surprised to hear Ayers is expected to put on another 15 or 20 lbs in the NFL, putting him close to 290lbs. Anybody here that before today?

that is what he said, and look I trust Cerrato's comments as far as I can throw Orakpo, but I believe they called and offered a modest deal to move up, just so they could say they did it. you gotta admit after Jacksonville every team got good guys who dropped because Sanchez went so high and Oakland was Oakland.

Maybe, or maybe we just didn't have enough ammunition that we were willing to give up. We have no 2nd rounder, for example.

I don't think we have the fuel to move back into the 1st without paying too high of a price.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion

We just might be Dominant on Defense ,,,, we should get some turnovers and score some more points . Now if we can luck out in the 3rd rd and hit a find on day two , we could see some Redskins football . I just wish we opened at home vs the cowturds.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion

Mangini saw how much Mangold helped the o-line in New York and took Mack. Smart move. I think Orakpo may play SAM on first and second and DE on third down. Similar to what they had in mind for JT. Ravens get Oher.

Oher goes to Baltimore, now if they get rid of Lewis, I might be able to stomach them.
