This is a really bad take. First, Biden will win...that’s big. But the Democrats way underperformed again...why? If you expect people to vote for defund the police, socialism, and a government back healthcare bc dems Obamacare was a major, yuuuuuuuggggeeeee policy failure...then you don’t get it. People are voting for Trump, they are voting against policy.

Policy and platform is what matters. When I see people crying about I can’t believe “trump got this many votes”...it’s a major blind spot bc the alternative offers so very little.

The data is there...Trump expanded the base especially with minority voters. It’s because identity politics is clown based shit, ideas and policy matter more.

Re: Election Day Thread - Nov. 3, 2020

Article about Jill Jorgensen:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...in/6173100002/

"Jorgensen said third-party voters aren't to blame for a Republican loss –Republicans are. "They should be mad at those candidates for not following through on their campaign promises," she said. Jorgensen has been campaigning across the country since the summer and said many supporters have come from across party lines – mainly, "recovering Democrats" who want troops called home from overseas missions and Republicans upset that Trump failed to cut the national budget deficit as he promised during his 2016 campaign, she said.""

""If I can get Republicans to start acting like Republicans and cutting the deficit. And if I can get the Democrats to go back to being the party of peace, bringing our troops home, and giving the average individual their rights? Then yes, I would be very pleased." About 70% of Jorgensen's campaign volunteers were registered Democrats or Republicans, she said. "In the personal conversations I had (on the campaign trail) a lot of people would say, 'Yeah, in 2016 I voted for Trump. I was so excited and then he didn't follow through on his promises,'" she said."

This could have been written about me regarding what she said about Republicans.

Sometimes I think Chico posts things solely to troll G1. At least 20% (certainly feels that way at least) of all posts in the political threads are them going back and forth.

Re: Election Day Thread - Nov. 3, 2020

4 years of a "when is enough enough" media barrage and Trump still got more votes than he did last election. You guys just don't get it. I am certainly done trying to explain it. My hope is a republican senate with a senile biden will bring calm and gridlock to dc. I hope biden is true to his word and that he works with senate and doesn't let Pelosi dictate to him. I will say at least he will be too incoherent to put together good attack speeches so in that sense the rhetoric should tone down some.

Trolling G1 is easier than shooting a pig in a barrel.

What is there to get exactly? 70+ million voted for Biden and probably a good part of that vote is anti Trump more than pro Biden. More people have voted for Biden than any other candidate in history. Does that mean Biden is a great candidate? Hell no. Does Trump getting a bigger vote this time around than last time mean anything? Not really considering the overall turnout is way up. Please let us know what we're supposed to be getting. That the country is more divided than ever? Thanks, knew that already.

It means that 4 years of bashing, berating, dismissing and calling people from all walks of life sheep, cultists, racists, etc etc was not an effective way of changing hearts and minds any more than Trump berating his opponents was.

Re: Election Day Thread - Nov. 3, 2020

Cred -- im trying real hard to get it. And I think i do a bit. trump has been attacked form day one. but it was mostly self inflicted wounds. I think the level of criticism at him was bc the level of his actions and words and behaviors.

I think you totally over look the fact that he brought a lot of it upon himself.

we werent attacking him bc he wore a tan suit or bowed to a prince of another nation.

we attacked him bc he said he believed putin over our own intelligence.

we attacked him bc greatly downplayed the fact that a Saudi prince MBS had a reporter killed. there are so many examples of him bringing it upon himself.

and we are supposed to be polite and not ask the the loud cursing patron in the restaurant to keep it down? we are the problem?

------

I do not understand your insistence that we treat Trump like every other president has been treated. If he acted like any other president, he would have been treated like any other president.

i just dont understand how you see trump as normal and not at least 80% deserving of how he was treated.

if mitt romney was president, there would not have been impeachments and such vitriol.

i just strongly disagree with your kids glove approach to trump
