Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread

Man, Desmond Ridder plays with my QB emotions.

I've never watched a full game of his, just bits and pieces. They are so much better than their competition right now, they don't have to constantly spin the ball down the field.

My final stop, I'm back on the hype train. He will automatically be a top 3 running QB in the league (definitely helpful for a rookie). And the man can fire the that fucking pigskin to all levels.

A lot of runs in this clip, but when he throws it, the ball has that spin that is fun to watch.

My current draft QB rankings (all imo, I'm no expert):

1. Ridder
2. Corral
3. Howell
4. Pickett (I don't trust a QB that throws the ball with a glove, no matter what, otherwise, I'd have him above Howell)
5. Strong/Willis (kind of a cop out, 2 talented guys that I like, but are opposite ends of the spectrum on how they play in college)

I don't know much about him but from that highlight reel he looks like a one read quarterback. Today's NFL requires a QB to in some cases go through a complete progression.

I do like Ridder. I don't know if I like him better than Howell, Corral, or Pickett. Whatever the order is - I'm sure one of them will be a Commander next year.

Let's see how Ridder does against Alabama on Friday. That game alone could boost his draft stock, or the opposite...

One move I would make is cut Collins and sign Bobby Wagner who will be a cap casualty in Seattle.

Yup…but his game against Notre Dame this year was good. You got best safety in the country and nfl talent at CB on ND, he played well.

I think Ridder has a lot to like. I don’t know if he is as strong as the Pittsburgh QB or Corral when it comes to arm talent, but his experience, system, translates.

Get Ridder the ball, is that what you’re saying? On name alone, better than Pickett (or Blewitt).

Only if he doesn't hold the ball too long. I can see fans wanting him to get Ridder it

I hear you. I looked at the highlight montage, and it was pretty impressive. There were some times where I thought he held the ball too long, only to turn them into fairly long running plays. But it's clear that the speed of NFL defenses will be a real change -- he may still excel in some of the designed runs, but a number of the improv moments probably won't be possible in the pros. But he throws a tight spiral and seems to get a fair bit on the ball.

I have to say, I was also impressed with some of his receivers -- a number of tough contested catches and/or guys hitting the jets once the ball was caught. I would think that a couple of those guys have a future too.

He would be ok for future. I think they could trade down and get him. The teams looking for QB this year are looking to make noise in playoffs not rebuild.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread

I don't get what people see in Ridder as a 1st rounder. He is way too hot and cold from the limited games I have seen. He just isn't the pure accurate thrower like Bruce Young is. But I don't care, if they like him then draft him, coach him up, grind on his footwork and get him right. He is a big physical kid like Josh Allen so maybe he can turn into something similar if we draft him.

We have got to get one of these QB's. But what worries me is do we even have the right people to evaluate a QB. I don't really trust Ron in that department.

We’ll find out tomorrow what he’s made off vs Bama. If he has a good game and beats Bama he’ll leapfrog Pickett.

If Ridder is any good I would like to see him play well today. Actually he should play well today. This Bama defense is not an elite one.

I like Ridder, but I think he is a project than a plug in play. It’s just that kind of year in the draft for QB.

The more I read, I think the only guy I’m hearing who is truly most NFL ready is the guy from Pitt.

Aaron Rogers is going nowhere but GB, especially if they win the SB.
