He definitely could've handled it better than punching her in the face, but there really wasn't a reason for her to go get all up in his face either. Whatever the disagreement is, keep your distance and either hash it out or walk away. Nothing good ever happens when you go seeking out trouble like that. And yeah I say all this even after reading the article that the guy did hard time in prison for killing another guy. I'm not saying he's a saint, but the video doesn't make her look like one either.
Yeah, from the previous posts I assumed she was an innocent bystander or was trying to break the fight up.

Instead the girl ran up into the fight swatting at the guy, and hit him first. She wanted to fight, she got hit. Should have been taken downtown and charged like the rest of them, for assault.

Re: Around the NFL Week 7

^great post on the ACLs. I don't remember people tearing their ACLs so much in the 1970s-80s and early 90's. Wonder why it's like that now.

Athletes are muscularly bigger, stronger and faster while the ligaments are the same size. Basically the torque and other biomechanic activities of athletes are too much for the smaller components of our body that we can't strengthen.

Ligaments do strenghten as a person works out.

Yeah no. The muscles around the joints can strengthen to some degree and provide static stability. But the strengthening also puts more stress on the ligaments in flex (dynamic) positions. Connective tissue does not develop. It exists and degrades with age.

Re: Around the NFL Week 7

I'd be interested to see a comparison of ACL injuries today vs 20-30 years ago. Does it really happen more often or is it a case of people having short memories.

Remember back in the day astroturf caused a lot of knee injuries. Anyone else remember when a receiver for the Bears blew out both his knees on one play in Philly?

Terry Allen had multiple ACL tears, Gayle Sayers career was cut short because of knee injuries, etc.

Re: Around the NFL Week 7

I think it would also be interesting to see how the new targeting rules are affecting knee injuries. And how limited practices are affecting how often players are getting hurt.

Good point.

As for Meriweather, I have a feeling his suspension will be reduced to 1 game. Just a guess
