Both of these were pretty damn good.

So what's the tally of SB championships per team now?

Eli, Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, Eli, Peyton, Rosthlisberger, Brady, Brady, Johnson, Brady in the last 11 years. All of those were considered franchise qb's at the time, save Brady in 01 who was kind of an unknown. My point is, as the league has become a passing league, look at all the recent SB champions. None of them won without significant contributions from their qb at some step of the way.

WE on the other hand, don't have all the pieces set. We are severely lacking in areas and if we blow our picks for a QB who may bust, then we will be set back years. However, if we maintain patience and continue to build, we can build this team into a contender while grooming a QB (noles/tannehill). Throwing your picks (this year and next) away for the "chance" at a franchise QB isn't smart unless you have it all in place. We don't, which is why you can't compare us to the Giants doing this. Also, Brees was a 2nd rounder.

Yeah, but what difference did that franchise QB make in Carolina this year? They still lost a ton of games. I'm not saying you need a full deck to go get that QB, but I'm saying that the Giants were loaded in 2004 with talent. It was fortunate for them they landed at the #4 spot so they could make that trade. We aren't that team. We have too many needs at this point. If we are 3 years removed from a Super Bowl and we are sitting where the Giants were, then by all means I'm for making that move for the QB. Right now, we aren't. Trust me, I want a QB more than you can possibly imagine, but not at the sake of risking it all. Trading 2 drafts of picks would be definitely be putting all your eggs into one basket.

In the last three years, there has been a shift in who makes the big game going from the team who holds homefield advantage to the team who can put up the gaudiest passing numbers. The problem with the QB theories is that Alex Smith and Joe Flacco pretty much did as much to take their teams to the super bowl as anyone in the game. And it's really not that hard to find Alex Smith and Joe Flacco types. But Patrick Willis or Terrell Suggs? Those guys are generational type talents. The lesson from this season is you need to have special players to make the super bowl. Multiple special players. It doesn't so much matter that you have one of the five best QBs in the league (Eli has never been one of the five best QBs in the league), but you NEED guys who can raise their level of play in the playoffs. For the better part of 15 weeks, Osi and Tuck nursed their injuries, sat out of practice, and let the injury report make excuses for them. And now they are champions. Apparently, to be truly great in the NFC East, you need to have great raw talents, who are willing to play up to their true potential for about a month. And you need an Eli or a JPP to keep your season afloat.

Re: Official Super Bowl Thread
Good super bowl, not as good as the one 4 years ago, but still good none the less. Redskins beat the Giants twice this year, only team to do so!
I'm just stoked for the start of the next season now, FA Draft Training Camp.

I just want to see my team play deep into the playoffs and win a SB. Lotus could lineup at QB for all I care.

Nothing wrong with my throwing mechanics. I can throw a party with the best of 'em.

Osi and Tuck are on the Jimmy Fallon show. Damn, that fast?...lol I know it's being broadcasted in Indy, but you'd think they would be worn out from that game to do a show.

Mad props to the Giants,,,thank your for sending those two Patriot pricks home losers for the second time. Great win for the Coach Coughlin, the Mara family, the NFC and the best division in the NFL.
