Back to the game that we should have won...that was the ugliest 57-yard FG ever but I give Gould credit. I don't think I've seen a line drive FG made from that far. I wish one of our two kickers had that leg.

The RT position is really showing itself to be a problem. Polumbus got abused by Israel Idonje. I'm not worried about Griffin's fumble, he slipped on the field and it was very close to being an incomplete pass because his arm was a split second away from going forward.

Banks...doing it again. Another preseason TD that might convince coaches to keep him. One more good return game and I think he'll make it, even though I've been saying all along he wouldn't.

Bears D looked VERY good. I was impressed. I also think Cutler to Marshall is going to be very dangerous this season...they could be pushing Green Bay for the division.

Bailey 1st run
LeRib good speed to pull around the edge and lead way to reach 2nd level backers +1

Re: Redskins at Bears Post Game Thoughts

The first team offense hasn't looked sharp coming out of the gate and gameplan or no gameplan the execution should be much better.
The offensive line has been inconsistent, and regardless of the injuries they must play better.
Griffin certainly hasn't had a lot of passing attempts (14) near league low.
Consequently I don't feel like Griffin has found a good rhythm in any of the preseason games thus far.
In the Bears game Griffin did not run a lot of our base offense, unless our base offense is going to be 3 TE 1 WR.

I don't want to see the 'new' wrinkles on the offense read option etc.
But, I do want to see our base offense executed at a much higher level.
I would like to see some offensive line step-up.
I want to see a scheme that accounts for the weaknesses up front that will allow adequate time for Griffin to work the offense and the runningbacks to have lanes.
I want to see Griffin get into a rhytm executing the base offense and give Fred Davis, Garcon, Hankerson and Moss multiple targets.

Then I want the first unit to sit the heck down and watch.

Lots of good insight and solid comments in this thread IMO. I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting a QB controversy either...it's sort of a straw man that homers and hard-line FO apologists create to delegitimize anyone who makes a critical comment.

The Bears have a hard nosed stout defense. I was under no illusion. I knew RG3 would have to fight it out against a defense like that. For his first time playing against such a great defense, I thought he did well. The passing game lacked with the starters but RG3 did have a decent pass completion percentage. He just needs to learn how to scan the field quickly to locate an open receiver and if there is no one open, he should just take off and outrun the entire defense to the end zone for 6.

For those wondering, Shanahan says Griffin will play the first half and one series in the 3rd quarter. That will be it for him this preseason

Paul still could have caught that pass. If every pass has to be perfect in order for the receiver to catch it, then that receiver doesn't need to play in the NFL.

It's obviously time to start Crompton since he has yet to make even one mistake in a preseason game for us.

Pretty much the same thing as last week, huh? I guess that's enough.

Pretty sure he was just saying they were lucky to win with that FG... granted who cares about winning or losing these games.

One could equally assert that he has done nothing right. Plus, I heard he grabbed the wrong clipboard while standing on the sideline, accidentally sat in the DL's spot on the bench and talked to the guy in the urinal next to him while taking a piss. What kind of leadership can you expect from a guy like that.

Re: Redskins at Bears Post Game Thoughts

My notes on the offense:

Too early and way too small sample size to say much about RGIII and/or the offense overall but there are a few things we know.
A rookie QB will miss things and RGIII is no different. In one of his later series, on a 3rd down, he threw high downfield to a WR. It would have been a tough completion no matter what but RGIII was way off. The bigger thing on the play though is we had a TE, I think Davis, open enough across the flat for a 1st down. RGIII will see this on video and learn from it.
The offensive line is very weak at this point, even adjusting for a stout front 7 Chicago boasts. The line doesn't execute most plays well and struggles in both run blocking and pass blocking.
Garcon has neither the speed nor the strength of a true #1 WR. I went back and rewatched all the snaps where we had a view on Garcon and he really doesn't outrun anybody. The play most notable was the downfield bomb that was (incorrectly) called for pass interference. The DB had no trouble keeping up w/ Garcon, but more importantly he had no troube (easily) forcing Garcon out of bounce, which is why the pass interference call would never fly with real refs. I kind of see Garcon as a poor man's, albeit younger, Anquan Boldin. My fear is both the Shanahan's, out of ego, and RGIII, out of inexperience, will force too many shots Garcon's way and the offense suffers for it. Moss is still our best WR and Davis is the best overall downfield target, both coach and QB would be wise to play to this reality.

You've exceeded your quota for smiley faces today.

Matty was correct. Did YOU watch that kick? It was ugly. I was shocked it went through. Gould is the man.

Oh and that dropped pass by Niles...it hit him right on both of his hands. That was not on Griffin in any way.
