If there is no local team it seems like kids gravitate to a team that is good at the time. I suspect a lot of non-DC people who are Skins fans grew up in the 80s when the Skins were a force and on tv a lot. IMO that is a much easier bond to break. I can see those fans going elsewhere since its not like the Skins are a perennial powerhouse that is easy to root for.
You continue to amaze & confuse me.

I completely disagree. If you are a true fan of any team than there is a bond. If you can easily go root for another team than there was no bond.

True enough, if there was not a bond and you lived in another city, chances are you would already be routing for the other team.......

I agree. Even if the team changed its name, logo, and colors (gasp!), it would still be the only NFL team which I have not rooted AGAINST.

they had meeting and Goodell wasn't even there. And Oneida wants to meet with other owners on SB week. Like that's going to do anything ? and they gave a 30 page pseudo science study paper that says the name is harmful to Indians psychies LOL

and the want Goodell to visit Oneida tribe areas...right ? like they wont be all scripted how to act when he gets there?

He should visit and then they should have to visit tribes who want the Redskins to keep the name. Is it too much to ask that there be some semblance of a consensus among American Indians before the Skins change their name?

Re: Darrell Green does not support Redskin name change

Snyder should not change the name but I have a feeling the pressure is going to keep building up. If he does change the name I would want it go back to the Braves and keep the logo that we have. Have you seen the poll on espn? Oneida Nation meets with NFL leadership to seek Washington Redskins name, mascot change - ESPN

Washington Redsyns

Sounds like Redskins and Redsyn is an anagram of Snyder.

Problem solved.

Re: Darrell Green does not support Redskin name change

Synder should tell them I will change the name of the team when the state of Oklahoma changes it's name.

He should definitely say that he won't change the name until every High School in America AND the Braves, Indians, Warriors, Blackhawks and Chiefs agree to do the same. It's BS that the Redskins are being singled out. All or nothing. Everyone dives into the deepend together or not at all. The 30 plus page document on the National Congress of American Indians website says ALL of these names are offensive.

Report: San Francisco Chronicle Won't Use 'Redskins' Nickname | SportsGrid

Hey we're a taboo! And real hypocritical for KC to keep on using Chiefs and not Redskins. Asshats.
