Quite a few guys could be in trouble depending on cuts elsewhere, I definately could see C Griffin cut(why hes on roster is beyond me), really any of 2nd year + OL backups except Polumbus.

Whoops. Should have Alexander in there. Drop the DL to be named later for Alexander

And yeah Jackson is my "shock cut" Not based on any inside info at all.

Jackson definitely would be a stunner. He's had a great camp from everything I've seen. Could we possibly trade him? Some were thinking that because this is his contract year, we might get some value out of him due to the fact that he will probably test to market anyway.

I was going to try to do the whole 53, then I realized I haven't got a clue.

My main shock cut would be Grossman, and they decide to use that surprise spot to keep the 4th RB without any loss at WR or DB's.

I doubt it would happen, but honestly Cousins impressed the heck outta me, and seems like he could hold his own if it came down to it.

Zero chance Rex gets cut. He's, at least for the first halfish of the season, the rock solid #2.

#2 meaning if RGIII gets hurt Rex comes into the game. If RGIII is hurt for an extended period of time I would bet Cousins gets the starts though. Rex is the guy they don't have to spend the whole preparing him to play. He's just plug and play.

But at some point, he's just a blank spot. If he is on this year, it's a high probability he won't contribute one bit, and if he does, history shows he gives us about a 50% win rate. Cousins won't contribute at all if he stays, but he's got to be on the roster, not going to PS because another team will pick him up, so why have two deadspots at backup qb. Doesn't seem worth it, especially considering the battles going on at other spots. If we keep all 4 RBs and 2 FBs, it's pretty much a guarantee all 6 will contribute during the season. I know Rex is a comfort zone keep, but I think Cousins showed enough that Rex' spot ought to be at least within the discussion of the cuts.

I am no great Wrecks fan, as you know. But what if Gryphon (heaven forbid) is lost for the season in game 6? Do we really want Cousins starting 10 games? I don't. I'd prefer the 50% win rate of Wrecks in this scenario. Gotta keep Wrecks...for now.

I know it could have a doomsday case like this, but what is Green Bay doing? What if ARodgers gets hurts who fills in?

Drew Brees has Chase but is he going to do it for you?
Heck Eli has who?

If your second guy comes in for 10 games, we aren't doing much any way.
Look at Houston - Shaub's place was taken by what's his name.

If they keep Rex I understand, but we could look at an extra OL, RB, DB who might actually play even if no major injury occurs, and at spots where major injury may be more likely. Griffin may be injury prone, but so far, he has looked like he understands that part of his job is protecting himself. (he is the oline after all!)

Edit: Thanks Google internet search - PFT did an analysis of backup qbs 2 weeks ago, and like I said I just don't see backup qb as the worst need on ours.

I'd rather Cousins get the starts but Rex get the mop-up duty in the game in which RG got hurt. Early on for a rookie like Cousins you'd like not to drop him into a game with no decent prep. Chances are it'd be disastrous.

Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions

Big news this morning as the NFLPA has approved the new IR rule. Meaning one player could be place on IR and come back mid-season.

This could easily be someone like Hightower, even Helu still depending on how he feels over the next 48 hours.

Smoot, explain to me again Jamaal Brown's situation? He is not on IR, but PUP or something?

Yeah's he on PUP. Can be activated any time after the 6th game

There's no way Hightower makes this team over one of Helu/Morris/Royser right?

Seems hard to justify in my opinion.

More complete player with less upside than than Morris or Helu. Balky knee is the only thing that makes him not a 100% lock.
