I'm calling it now. Redskins will be in a Super Bowl before the Caps even get to a Stanley Cup only to lay an egg in another Game 7. Of course, I'm going to be smarter now and not get any playoff hopes until 2 seasons have passed from now.

Someone needs to cart Mike Green's ass back to Canada.
I thought the Redskins were bad last year, but being THE FIRST FUCKING No. 1 SEED to lose a series to an 8 seed after leading a series 3-1 takes the cake.

Re: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2010

Anybody think we ship Mike Green out of town this offseason?

Caps once again proving that old adage it doesn't matter how many goals you scored in the regular season, playoffs is defense and good goaltending. Aka the Caps weak points.

And we're next in the ever growing list of Presidents Trophy winners who get ousted early in the playoffs.

I'm DUNZO with sorry ass Mike Green. Both of their goals we're direct results of his boneheaded play. A flagrant cross check right in front of the ref to set up their first, and then he leaves his man on the second to go for the hit and they get an an easy goal. He's terrible.

Anyone think Boudreau's job might not be very safe?

Re: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2010

ESPN keeps saying that this is the first time a #1 seed has blown a 3-1 series lead to a #8 seed, but didn't the Bruins do just that to then #8 seed Montreal like 5 years ago? A close friend of mine is a Bruins fan and he swears it happened about 5 years ago.

Anyone?

I'd have to think that BB and/or GMGM will be gone

Seriously doubt they get rid of GMGM, the guy has done nothing except find prospect after prospect. Boudreau on the other hand could be a different story but I imagine that he's safe for at least another year. Stat of the night, the Caps have only been in 7 game series since BB became the coach.

Doesn't really matter. We're basically the San Jose Sharks of the East. All the talent in the world yet we fold during the postseason. I don't know if we need a new coach that will better prepare us for playoff hockey but I think not playing against an ungodly goalie should help. It'll be interesting to see if they can beat Pittsburgh. However right now I want little if anything to do with hockey. This loss hurts pretty bad. At least when the Redskins have lost over the past decade it didn't hurt as much because most of the time we knew we sucked, but this was obviously different.

This is one time I'm glad that America doesn't give a crap about hockey as I want have to worry about seeing to many sportscenter highlights.

Re: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2010

so glad we waited till that first goal to really get in there, penetrate, try to get 2nd shots, etc

we don't get as many of the structured pass around, shoot from afar goals as some teams.. especially when they've got the lanes blocked heavily.. gotta push through

would be nice if we showed some urgency, even in just getting the puck out of our zone, instead of just letting them take it from us... again..

what a disappointing ending to the year

Re: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2010

I don't understand how they could keep letting the Canadians block passes and shots like that. If your opponent starts frustrating you with one move, you counteract with another move, in this case even if you don't know what to do push the tempo and just go balls out, start whacking anything that moves and make them pay for blocking the shots. Or just lighten up on the passing and try to crash the net more and hit those rebounds.

It just felt like they got demoralized by the Canadians constantly blocking shots and passes and didn't know how to react. They did that all series long and we didn't have an answer for it at all.

Re: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2010

Wow what a letdown. I was more worried about the Wings taking out the Coyotes in Phoenix and now this. Over 100 shots on goal and only 2 go in. I take back what I said earlier about the Wings getting old. They might be getting old, but they know how to play great defense and kill penalties.
