The atmosphere has to rise over the mountains in the center of the island to get to Haiti. Doing so the air, cools condenses and drops all the precipitation on the DR side, leaving less precipitation for Haiti.

Less precipitation less agricultural productivity. Less tree regrowth which is the dominant fuel resource in the country. No food and no fuel to cook it with or boil your drinking water. Your work friend is right the population exceeds the carrying capacity. Even then the corruption that would exist would make it fail.
I think sometimes when we here about the drought issues in the west…especially arid based landscapes, what did you think would happen? Doesn’t seem logical to have millions living in an environment that has adopted to having low water availability to survive.

Yup water diversion and ground water withdrawal increases are through the roof. There are some interesting technology propositions going out including water pipelines from the Great Lakes (bad idea) or water pipelines from Mississippi river ( a much better idea) but that won't stop future population growth in those areas.

Biden aides find second batch of classified documents at new location -NBC News

A second batch of classified documents? You don’t say? The key takeaway, VP cannot de-classify, unlike President Trump.

But looks like Biden absolutely did not handle and secure classified documents.

Apparently 'classified' is open to interpretation. There's an OK 'classified' document to store wherever you want and a not OK one. All of Trump's are the not OK ones, all of Biden's are the OK ones. Amazing!

Outside of G1 being so full of shit, it's funny we're pretending like politicians on both sides haven't been doing this shit forever. Can't wait to spend the next 5 years hearing about documents found in broom closets.

"our culture" .. "our western values"

=

our blood and soil

Makes as much sense as someone in Michigan claiming their confederate flag on their porch is about "southern heritage" and not slavery

But carry on ..

Joe Rogan slams China-funded Biden think tank where classified documents were found

So the Chinese might be funding a think tank that has classified documents?" Rogan said. "$54 million in Chinese gifts donated to UPenn, home of the Biden Center. What the f---, man? $54 million in gifts. This is just like, you know, yo-yos, and s---. Xboxes, beer koozies. What the f--- are they giving them?"

I’ll take Rogan over some has been. 54 million by China donors to a think tank? Why folks?

2022 spending:

399 Billion on debt interest spending. Not on paying down the debt, just the interest on the debt.

That's fucking disgusting!!

"In late May, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected that annual net interest costs would total $399 billion in 2022..."

But what do you do?

We have to raise the debt limit. This isnt about new spending under President Biden but paying off our credit card debt for purchases we already made.

We cant default ... in this economic climate it might be a disaster. Maybe we could, let the S&P take a huge hit then rich people can swoop in with cash in hand and get richer.

Solution - balance budget going forward? Everything neutral and stop with the "political math" that this bill will pay for itself when the GDP reaches 9.8%

Yeah, my post was not meant to be about just the Joe Biden administration or saying no to raising the debt ceiling. That would just be all for show, not to actually accomplish anything. This debt has been mounting for a very long time. But we just keep piling on to it. Defaulting is definitely not the solution either. It's absolutely immoral what our "leaders" have done to this country. Both sides.

Balancing the budget should be the start. Not passing bills with tons of extra shit in it should be on the list. Freezing spending increases should be on the list. Cutting spending across the board x% would be a good idea. If everyone had to cut the same amount, no one should be able to complain. And there is no way every government dept. can't find some bloat to chop off. Any budget surplus goes to paying off the debt, it does not get recycled to get spent somewhere else.

There are lots of things that could be done, but instead they just keep spending more than we bring in every year. They just pretend like the money is fake and the debt is imaginary. While us peasants keep getting screwed. It's just not right.
