It's hilarious how Sam Howell had more value in the NFL than did Justin Fields. Sam showed more upside/promise.

Part of that is where Sam is in his rookie contract versus fields ; Sam has more value on that aspect

And the Bears had no bargaining advantage in any trade, since they have the #1 overall pick and every one knows they are taking Caleb.

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start

if i'm washington i would trade the #2 pick to vikings for a haul .. it would look like this
minnesota gets washington 2024 1st round pick 2cnd overall ..
Washington receives Minnesota 2024 1st round pick 10th overall , 2024 1st round pick 23rd overall , 2024 2cnd round, 2025 1st round ..

would you do this ??

keep in mind it's going to be Maye or Daniels .. are they worth what we could get ..

Fact: Sam Howell was more sought after than Justin Fields.

NFL talent evaluation told you this, not anybody’s opinion

NO! Because 1. Your haul example is too unrealistic to seriously contemplate and 2. Jayden Daniels will be better and even more exciting than RGIII was. I don't want to miss out on seeing JD play in a Washington uniform.

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start

tyron smith probably was the best tackle in FA talent wise (but old and misses time to injuries). Guessing he took the deal because other people were probably offering 6-10 without 13m in incentives. It's not like Dallas is going to be able to pay him.

as far as trade down, i'd rather keep it simple - need QB, in position to take QB - take QB. There are just too many ways to outsmart yourself and end up holding the bag, and if that happens, the fanbase and media will kill you for it.

I mean, there's always a world where penix never gets injured again and outplays everyone else in the draft, but it's a lower % chance than JD5 looking nfl ready year 1. No one's going to destroy you for doing the groupthink higher % play (and it is more likely to work out).

I would love to d it. Bookend tackles in the first, bpa after.
I’m of the mind that the value received via trade far outweighs any of the top 3 QBs this year. Not sure any of them are NFL top tier quality. There is no Andrew Luck or Joe Burrow there, and I have questions whether Daniels can become Lamar. Therefore, take the haul.

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start

While it's true there is no Burrow or Luck in this draft this game is all about the QB and I highly doubt they will be picking 2nd anytime soon. So you have to take your shot when you get the opportunity and prey you got it right.

I've gone from Maye to Daniels after watching a number of Drake Maye games. He just does not look special, could very well bust and or top out at Derrick Carr. I say take a big swing on someone who could be great and to me that's Daniels more than Maye.

I wouldn't say that.

Daniels had very similar numbers to Burrow and a similar background as well.

Caleb is considered a clear cut Game changing QB.

Maye is the ? out of the 3 but so were Herbert and Allen..

Yes. It's too much for me to turn down. Even then I'd feel I had made a mistake if I wasn't able to land either Penix or McCarthy (I feel that Maye would be gone by #10).
