I didn't watch tonight's game. There were some concerns about Cundiff struggling on FG 50 yards and over. Luckily that 46 yard miss came in preseason. But Gano would have made that particular attempt.

But he would've missed one of the other 3 that Cundiff made.

Right, Gano woulda made all of them. 4 for 4, because he never missed, ever.

Looks like there really is some competition at the kicker spot.

Robert Griffin III nails 20 yard field goal in warmups

RG3 can be our back up kicker with Zo as the backup punter. LOL.

Well, let's cut the guy some slack. He had only been signed 48 hours before the game. New snapper, new holder.

Truth be told, I'm more worried about this.

NFL to use replacement officials for start of regular season - ESPN

Ugghhhh....

The over 50 yard kick argument bothers me.
Screw 50 yard kicks.
I want to win by scoring touchdowns, not struggling to get to the opponents 40.

Ok how about 45 yards and above? Just like Suisham, he'll miss those.

I agree with AW for once. I'd rather have a guy automatic from inside the 50, because when you think about it, what's the average for kicks attempted inside the 50 versus outside the 50? Gano might have made the 50 yarders, but you never knew if he was going to make a simple 30 yarder or not. Those are the ones that hurt, when you go on a long drive and instead of even getting 3 out of it you get nothing.

Its more like the 32 yard line for a 50 yard kick.

Re: Redskins Sign K Billy Cundiff, Release Gano

If you eliminate the blocked kicks (debateable - see Dallas loss), there is not a single game in which a better field goal kicker would have won it for us last year. Obviously it is hard to hold constant other factors like momentum, situational play calls, etc. I guess my point is that Gano-to-Cundiff change doesn't matter that much.
