Re: Snyder to Stay on a Owner
I could go on about Cooke, I use to know a PR lady who worked w/ the Redskins. I have been in PR/ marketing for a long time. Some of it is second hand info but I believe it. She handed me a book one day that Cooke's secretary wrote. I think I still have it laying around somewhere. It was hilarious how he acted, how bombastic he was. He was so on top of his business but a real mess in his personal life.
I didn't know this but Cooke was one of the pioneers in cable tv. He sent John to middle of nowhere Wisconsin to lay down cable wire back in the 60's. Anyhow I never felt that bad for John. He didn't get the team but he did get around 100 million dollars. He has a top of the line winery out in Middleburg. I wonder how this thing w/ Snyder will turn out. At this point I would prefer that he stay on just cause a new owner means a lot more change. It could mean early ownership Dan all over again. Even though we are losing this is the most stable we have been in a while. |

I would never use the word stability to describe the DS era ever.

Re: Snyder to Stay on a Owner
Stable? Hell to the no! Consistent? Yes, but consistent in pathetic, immoral, incompetent (and illegal?) ownership and management to name a few. How could anyone ever want this to continue?! I’d gladly welcome some newbie owner in hope that they would do a better job knowing there’d be growing pains.

Anyway, sure, JKC was a very animated and bombastic character. What he was not was sleazy, petty, and inattentive. JKC's record speaks for itself- no contest. As for Snyder, I think he will survive because there is nothing horrid that can be directly attributed to him. And I think what we have seen is what the future holds. IMHO there is something we all miss in Snyder's character. Sure, he "wants to win" but who doesn't? More than that though, he loves the "BIG SPLASH" i.e. huge deals and publicity. He is hopelessly and perpetually intoxicated by hiring, firing, trades, acquisitions, and media attention, negative though it may be. I would not doubt that part of him loves this investigation. God help us. ![]() |

Re: Snyder to Stay on a Owner
Okay in honor of Halloween weekend let’s have some fun. Since Dan’s ownership has been such a nightmare what horror movie or movie series do you equate his ownership to?

Not a horror movie, but the Godfather comes to mind. Not that Snyder is anything like a mafioso. Those films were loaded with the mantras, respect and loyalty. Yet the whole structure was corrupt, evil, and rotten to the core. Snyder is a more buffoonish version. Always babbling about winning and tradition. Yet he has corrupted the organization to the point where it is rotten to the core. |

Re: Snyder to Stay on a Owner
That's easy - SAW
The film tells a nonlinear narrative, revolving around the mystery of the Jigsaw Killer, who tests his victims' will to live by putting them through deadly "games" where they must inflict great physical pain upon themselves to survive. Whereas: The owner of the Washington Redskins/Football Team tests the will of fans all over the world by putting them through season after season of high expectations, followed by oftentimes unwatchable games, and ultimately unfavorable season-end results, as we all inflict great emotional and psychological pain on ourselves by perennially and preposterously thinking that someday things will change. |

Fast & Furious - every time a new one comes out (a new season) it promises to be the best one yet and then actually turns out even more disappointing than the last. And there seems no end in sight...

Re: Snyder to Stay on a Owner
I'd say it's like hellraiser. The cenobites to be exact.
They are the purveyors of hell. Torture and torment are what make them happy. They live in a place where there is only despair and no hope living life in painful agony. Thats the very definition of being a washington fan.
