Re: Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
I been watching for over 50, since I was about 5. I was playing in High School when they made the head slap illegal. Our line coach taught guys to grab their own jersey when engaged with a defender to avoid illegal use of hands calls. I think it would be a kick to have a game refereed by 1970's interpretation of the rules nowadays. Do a couple games a year like that without pre-warning.

Re: Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
Again, our TEs blocking still is an issue in the run game, ie VD on this play... no run game expert but if he blocks his guy it seems like it could've been a solid gain.

VD is never a good blocker TBH.

I'm not happy with his blocking, but on this play it looks to me that he did a good job. Isn't that him riding his man back to the 20 yard line? Am I missing something?

Graham is lined up inside Vernon which doesn't make Vernon's job easy, and Graham easily beats Vernon inside because of it, as you'd expect. But notice Graham is able to push Vernon two yards into the backfield immediately. Vernon is never going to seal Graham off on this play, the way Graham is aligned prevents it, but he at least needs to keep Graham from crossing to the Washington side of the line of scrimmage. He needs to stalemate Graham there and force him to run down the line of scrimmage, which would then let Guice get to the line of scrimmage before being contacted, and then you've got a shot at a 3 yard gain to keep the drive on schedule. Vernon can't give ground so easily, doing so gave Graham the angle to meet Guice in the backfield and stop the play for no gain.

Re: Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
^^^^Look at where he lined up presnap. There is a huge gap between TE and RT. TE lined ups outside shoulder of a defender he has to prevent from going inside. He no chance to block him where lined up. Not just effort, it lack of intelligence and coaching.

Re: Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
VD is an athletic freak...but he has some bad drops and cant block. I called on this past offseason as a reset at the position, but nothing done. I hope this coming offseason, TE should be our primary focus along the Oline.
Im completely dumbfounded by Bruce's handling of Brandon Schreff...its gonna cost us more in the long run. We need to lock up our great/elite players. He is fucking this up big time, along with several other situations.

Re: Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
Yep, this looming CBA basically killed any chance at re-signing Schreff. Also, why Trent's stupid ass is not playing, but he's putting bullshit excuses.

Re: Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
As long as the new CBA still has the franchise tag, Scherff isn't going anywhere. If we can't get something done, we'll have to use it.
