Looked pretty damn good coming into a huge spot and beating the eventual superbowl champs last year. Looked pretty freaking awesome kicking the crap out of the browns in a must win last year. He threw a bad pick in his first action ever - cold off the pine - against Atlanta last year, but also threw a beautiful td pass to Moss. As for this year - came in cold - and threw a bad pick six, but looked halfway decent after that. Pretty difficult to come in every once in a blue moon without any first team reps and look good, but Id say he has passed the eye test imo. I think terrible is .... Well ....a terrible word choice to describe the limited action we have seen from him thus far.

The dude has played one complete game against a garbage football team and people assume he's somehow better than Griffin. It's mind-numbingly ridiculous. Especially considering all of the other 'eye test' evidence points to so-so arm strength, and the potential to be a turnover machine. |

Then news breaks late in the day that RG3 called the wrong protection on the last play. But let's blame the O-line. This kind of reminds me of 2007 when Jason Campbell was getting pummeled and there were no running lanes for Clinton Portiis. Campbell apologists put all the blame on the O-line. Then, low and behold, Todd Collins comes in and never gets touched and Portis suddenly has gaping holes to run through. Just maybe Collins knew what protections to call, was able to anticipate what the Defense was going to do BEFORE the ball got snapped and therefore, got rid of the damn ball instead of holding onto it. Maybe Defenses couldn't blitz him like they could Campbell. RG3 just may lead this team to the promised land one day, but right now he's average. His mechanics need work, he has poor pocket awareness, he fumbles like Rex, gets balls batted down too frequently, can't slide and is inaccurate. On top of that, there seems to be growing evidence that he has trouble reading Defenses and can't anticipate what's going to happen pre-snap. Good news is that he's only in his second year and can and probably will improve. But the onus is on him and blaming the coaching, the system or the O-line is loser talk and only deflects accountability.

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
RG3 spent the offseason rehabbing his knee instead of practicing football. For a long tenured vet like Peyton Manning missing an offseason doesnt matter so much but for a 2nd year QB it matters a lot. In a lot of ways 2013 was finished when RG3 went down in last year's playoff game and unfortunately his quick comeback gave a lot of fans false hope. Like I said in a prior post I'd be much more worried if I was a SF fan since Kapernick had a full offseason and has been terrible.
Its amazing that anyone would even think RG3 isnt the Skins franchise QB. IMO all the years of losing have made Skins fans doubt the Skins drafting ability and believe that the grass is greener with a QB another team found. Stick with RG3, he will be fine. My real concern with RG3 is his durability. |

^ actually all the years of losing have nothing to do with the draft or qb's. It is clearly due to the fact that Joe Gibbs sold the Redskins soul to the devil (he is too much of a God fearing man to sell his own), and the curse of the Oneida tribe.

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
Again, I just think having absolutely no offseason to prepare is a huge reason why Griffin III has struggled this year. An offseason where he could have worked on those mechanics, instead, he worked on rehabbing the knee. I'm not sure why people don't consider that?
And also, I just think his rookie season was such a blessing and a curse, because the initial success in his career has led to very inflated expectations. Barring anymore serious, offseason consuming injuries, year three should show a bit more accurate picture of what the 'skins have with RGIII. Give him a full offseason of preparation to work on those mechanics, development of more drop back passing, and give him some upgrades up front to better pass protect. If all the stars line up like that and Robert still appears to show no signs of improvement, then we're in trouble. But all this nitpicking right now is just what it is, nitpicking.

The move that Shanahan and Snyder needs to make is hire a good QB coach. Greg Knapp comes to mind. Matt Lafleur is Kyle's boy, but we need someone that can develop Robert and help him on his mechanics.

I wouldn't fault the coaches for his mechanics. The offseason is the time for working on that stuff and with his rehab they simply couldn't do it. Sucks but that's reality.
