Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
I somewhat hopes it happens just so I can see the meltdown happen with some Skins fans. It's somewhat entertaining to watch them proclaim the franchise being setback 5-10 years if we don't get X player. Some of these guys are potentially setting themselves up for a huge letdown in terms of acquiring RGIII. If Mike and company don't think RGIII is worth trading up for, I don't want them to do it. Hell if they don't like him for the #6 pick I don't want them to do it. The ONLY thing I would be pissed at is if they drafted a Richardson at the #6 or any TE before the 6th round. The more I think about it, going OT in first and QB in second would be the most ideal really. (all Luck scenarios aside)

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
I'm very surprised that if a healthy Peyton became available, that we wouldn't at least kick the tires but I guess that might be because he would want to stay out of the NFCE, where his brother plays.
I wouldn't be surprised that over some dinner table, his name came up. Or at least when Shanny & Allen's player acquisition plans A-Z were laid out to the owners.

And actually I wouldn't be stunned if he fell to 6 and we traded down.

Shanahan better invest in bullet proof vest or body guards if he does. ![]() You talk about server shutdown(especially the idiots over on ES). I think that might do it even if the other trades you talked about didn't go through. Passing on RGIII at the #6. I would be laughing my ass off personally at the meltdown.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
I would not trade Orakpo. I would switch back to a 4-3 defense (which Shanahan most likely never do). I like to idea of OT in the 1'st QB in the 2'nd (if we don't sign a free agent).
I think Shanahan gets the boot next year if the Redskins record does not improve... |

He'll still be here even if he matches the record from last year. He's not going anywhere much like he wasn't going to fire Joe Gibbs either before his time. That said, we won't be having that type of record next year so it's a moot point. This team is getting better.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
More importantly, can we list successful teams that have been built following a QB trade?
2010 Bears 2009/2011 Texans 2005/2007/2008/2010/2011 Giants 2009/2010 Jets 8-8 or worse 2009/2011 Bears 2007/2008/2010 Texans 2004/2006/2009 Giants 2011 Jets 2010 Redskins The track record for unwanted, free agent quarterbacks (Kurt Warner, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning?) actually seems to be a lot better than the record for traded quarterbacks. It seems to me like teams spend more time overcoming their trade for QBs than winning as a result.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
The only concern I have about the search for a QB is that Mike Shanahan might feel too much pressure to get his QB for the next ten years in place this offseason. When MS was hired, he purportedly told Dan Snyder not to hire him if DS wasn't willing to give him five years to resurrect the Redskins on the field. With that in mind, I'm hoping that MS feels secure enough in his job to walk away from any bad deals for a QB.
Yes, we need a top QB. We also need other playmakers and more quality OLs and DBs. I like the idea that the Skins will leave no stone unturned in trying to find their Franchise QB. I hope they find him soon. Nevertheless, if the Skins should become concerned that what they would need to pay to get Luck or RGIII is likely to set back their rebuilding efforts, I hope MS has the courage to go to Plan B. Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
How long until this thread intertwines with all the other threads of us getting RG3, Luck, Peyton being cut, we should draft ___, etc. etc. I'm already feeling another 45+ pager...

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
IDK. VTSkins brought something different to this ... "get QB or I'm turning in my fan card" comments. He mentions he'd like to see the Skins (yet again make a change after 2 yrs) go back to a 4-3, but funny someone would want that when our defense was not the problem last year and they even played better then the year before.
