Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
I don't get the DT pick at all, it was arguably the only position we shouldn't have taken as others mentioned before the pick

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Suggesting either there's a trade on the cards (Allen?) or they simply went BPA and will scheme up to use the guy effectively. My vote is trade.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
I don't understand why we wouldn't have traded the 4th Dt and a 3rd for a starting LT in the first. Boy, first reaction from me, a real head scratcher, unless we are trading Payne for a starting LT or something that we don't know

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
It appears he was highest rated on their board. #20 on espn board, DeJean is #19.
Hate the pick as far as need. Would rather CB there.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Kinda a log jam at DT, but they stuck to the board as this guy is highly regarded
DT is a more prominent position these day and Jon Allen counts towards the cap next year

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Yup, it makes if flexible in what we can do with Allen. Could even trade him for more picks as the year goes on.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Apparently we don't need a CB.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
I really like Jer'Zhan Newton. This description suits him well, "He has shock in his mitts to jolt blockers. He mixes up his moves to generate sacks/pressures, routinely employing a violent club/swim and a quick-swipe maneuver. He also incorporates a Houdini-like move where he sticks his hand out and gets OTs to lunge at it before pulling it away and clearing the block."
