Re: Potential trades

Marshon Lattimore info:

6'0" 192 lbs ; 28 years old
1st rounder Ohio St
2017 AP defensive rookie of the year
4 time pro bowler
15 passes picked in 97 career games

We HAD to upgrade our secondary this year, especially corners if we're truly going to compete this year. Lattimore is the best move to do this. Like the move a lot.

Re: Potential trades

Looks like with all the Wide receivers Pittsburgh is signing, we might need to trade for Newsome too.

Re: Potential trades

Lattimore seems like he is probably hitting the downside of his career. He's missed a lot of games the last few years. I was listening to Grant and Danny and they mentioned that out of the last 60 games he's missed 20, so by my count that's 1/3 of the games played the last few years, plus he makes a ton of money.

On the flip side he fills an obvious need for the next couple of years and is easily the best corner we have.

In Peters we trust and all great GM's at some point take risks. Every move he's made has been pretty damn good. Plus Lattimore has to be happy as hell getting out of New Orleans. This is what the top teams do, try and upgrade mid season. Hard to think it but we are now that type of team.

Yeah, I have the same concern regarding his reliability. I hope Lattimore is now more motivated to play, which will naturally enable him to play through injuries whenever possible. Nonetheless, just like you, I think this is a risk worthwhile for us to take.

Re: Potential trades

Lattimore has given up all of 1TD in his last 50 games played covering teams #1 WRs . . . this year opponents have a QB Rating of 76 when attempting to pass his way. He is by far our #1 corner, and only 28 years old. yes, health has been a concern, but he seems healthy so far this year!

This can help us a LOT!! Not only will it help us shore up the secondary, but will allow us to put more men in the box to slow the run game down instead of having two deep safeties on every play. Hopefully he can get up to speed quickly!!! I like this move quite a bit! Not just a 1 year rental either, two more years after this year under contract at $18 mill cap hits . . . not bad for a #1 corner in today's NFL!!

Re: Potential trades

the most telling thing about lattimore is that teams like the ravens and chiefs were in the hunt for him as well, those are good personal teams makes me feel better about this trade

hopefully he stays healthy

Re: Potential trades

You're getting a flawed player at the trade deadline.
Health, Contract, attitude, or a combo of the 3.

Lattimore has a bad hamstring.
There is some risk but the reward is moving BSJ to WR2 and Sainristril to the slot with help deep. the upside outweighs the contract which isn't that bad.

Re: Potential trades

I don't see how any Washington fan can be upset at this huge deal. Corner was preventing this team from every going anywhere this season, now they have landed one of the top corners in the game.

The window in Washington is officially open for business.

Re: Potential trades

I wonder if Lattimore and McLaurin are tight. They would have overlapped at OH State.

I believe his salary is not guaranteed the next two years- If for some reason (I in no way believe this) he becomes what a Haynes was worth, we are not stuck with a major salary hit, I believe.

Re: Potential trades

The Dallas Cowboys have yet to make a trade during the NFL Trade Deadline, but the franchise might be too busy making other moves.

Jon Machota of The Athletic is reporting that the Cowboys are releasing cornerback Andrew Booth. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...d0facac8&ei=19
Maybe Quinn knows something about getting value out of this guy

Flawed? A 4 time pro bowler who some Saints fans are calling the best corner they've ever had who is 28 years old. Please cite us attitude examples with him.

Again, he is an upgrade. Our corners prior to him needed a lot of help. Options WERE limited. He was easily the BEST available and has been healthy all year.

Re: Potential trades

Lattimore has that dog in him. I love that about him. I think him coming to our culture, and I can't believe I am saying this now, but the culture here now is damn good. Remember that line? lol. I think he will be fine here. He just needs to get healthy. It's a risk but hard not to like this move.

Re: Potential trades

I wonder is Lattimore was one of the players who wanted to be traded here?

He's definitely flawed. He's hurt quite often.

I can't cite any attitude problems, but he's a guy who runs hot on the field. I always disliked him, but I'm sure I'm gonna love it now.

If he's healthy I agree that he's a big upgrade.
