Re: Todd Collins Re-Ups

This is great news. And Todd is here because while Jason will be given every chance to show he can lead, there will be a point in which if we just aren't succeeding with him, Todd will take over.

That will be good for Jason. He'll have a great teacher in Coach Zorn, and time to learn the offense without worrying about looking over his shoulder if he makes a mistake. However, if he is chronically mediocre, then eventually, a change will be made. So he will have pressure, just not immediate pressure. It will keep him focused.

It wouldn't be good to have everything riding on Jason's development, and him staying healthy. Todd is an outstanding player and gives us a great insurance policy, and he will be able to assist in coaching Jason as well.

I hate to say I called this, but I kinda did say that I thought there was a good chance TC would be back. WHERE'S MY CREDIT?!
Good call Matty! You happy now, ya big Ego?

This continues the trend from last year of retaining key players who performed well for us (Betts, Sellers, Collins-I'm sure I'm forgetting others). Five more years of this and maybe irish will start to think we're turning things around.

Anyhow...does anyone else find it kind of interesting that Zorn and Snyder flew out to Massachusetts to bring Collins back, while Cerrato stayed back in DC? What's that all about? Maybe it's like the State of the Union addresses where one Cabinet member is always absent in case of some mass tragedy on site.

Maybe with FA about to start Vinny was too busy to go? Or maybe they thought the message would be best delivered by Zorn.

I've been watching the 6 part interview with him on Redskins.com and I'm more and more impressed with him by the minute. Well spoken, definitely an x's and o's guy, very likeable personality, I like his offensive philosophy... I'm diggin' the Z man!

I am too. The more I hear him talk the more I'm starting to like this guy.

Not really. I mean what does VC have to offer the conversation? TC knows they want to resign him and he knows the Jags would like him so he is going to base his decision on comfort and opportunity mostly. That stuff is dependent on the coaching staff so to me Zorn is the only guy to deliver the message. Plus he's a former QB so that helps. Snyder just tags along cause all this stuff gets him going. He loves this stuff.

I'd ne more worried if Snyderatto went and left Zorn behind. Either way Snyder is going no matter what. He's gotta get his First Day of FA fix baby. If he aint on a jet at 12:01 then he is probably bouncing off the walls. At least time it was to make a reasoned move.

LOL - there's definitely truth in that!

Dan just like's to be involved. Can you blame him? Hell if I dropped 800 mil to own an NFL team I'd be involved as hell. Shit I'd be calling plays down to JC. I guess that's why I don't have 800 mil.

Too bad not many other people have as reasoned an opinion on Snyder's involvement as you do. It reflects my thoughts exactly.

He was securing 'next' on the racquetball court..

Good move I guess. I wasn't as head over heels in love with Collins as everyone else here. He's good as a backup, but as with most backup QB in the league, I hope I don't see him after the preseason finale.

Re: Todd Collins Re-Ups

Good to have TC back. I think he would do well within this new offense. Quick decisions and release of the ball to a spot. Time will tell and I hope he doesn't see the field in 2008.

Re: Todd Collins Re-Ups

I don't think the details are available yet. I assume there's a pretty hefty SB based on last year's play, and a steeply escalating salary that will never be payed.

Maybe Vinny stayed behind and manned the phones for other deals. In a perfect world, that's what happened.

Re: Todd Collins Re-Ups

Great news! He deserved to be the top priority after what he did for the team last season.
