Is that an issue there? Here it is more a generational thing. Students will use latinx at a higher rate but coworkers that are older like gen x and millennials don't understand it.

It was a 20 point swing by latino men from Biden in 2020 to Trump this election.

TWENTY fucking points.

The country is more towards the right , even minorities and Dems don’t understand that. This election could be a permanent realignment and the Dems might not win at the presidential level for quite a while.

Like it or not President Trump is an iconic figure now….right now in the early 21st century, the most historic, most recognized, most talked about, most wildly covered around the world….for better or for worst. He is an icon.

We will see how it ends, hopefully good. But I think what’s been a lil surprising is the decompression and it’s been almost like a relaxed reaction to the election results of a Trump win.

Agree. It'll be interesting to see how he tackles immigration. I think he'll probably approach it similar to Obama in focusing on removing criminals.

Inflation to me was mainly a byproduct of trillions of dollars of covid spending. I think we would've had fairly significant inflation anyway if Trump had been reelected in 2020, but Biden added to it and threw gas on a fire.

WRT to housing prices.....in certain locations like Utah, Idaho, and Texas, they were already starting to go bat insane by late 2020 due to all the stimmy and pretty much zero interest rates.

First off welcome to the boards.

In regards to bolded I think that would be common sense approach and in addition as you said later a remain in Mexico. Harris said they were going to increase deportation if caught illegally entering this should be a no brainer as well.

trump supporters are at it......................

https://news.yahoo.com/news/pro-trum...174952912.html

“The unfortunate reality of electing a President who, historically, has embraced, and at times encouraged hate, is unfolding before our eyes,” said NAACP President Derrick Johnson.

Civil rights leaders are raising alarm over pro-Donald Trump racist text messages targeting Black Americans less than 48 hours after the 2024 presidential election.

"“Greetings, You have been selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation. Be ready at 12PM SHARP with your belongings,” reads one text message received by a resident in Washington, D.C., reports local TV station News4. “Our Executive Slaves will come get you in a Black Van, be prepared to be searched down once you’ve enter [sic] the plantation. You are in Plantation Group S.”

Notice the text messages don’t say anything about trump or anything else. This is typical Reddit like conspiracy theories posted by g1.

Democrats having a hard time realizing trump got elected on a middle class multi-racial coalition so they are gonna conduct hate crime hoaxes, false narratives, outright lies, such as above to break up the unity found in the trump win.

Most people do not view him in a good way. In fact, Harris favorability was higher than Trumps. The Republican party is definitely the party of Trump. It change from the glory worshiping of Reagan to bowing down before dear leader Trump. Notice, both were celebrities/actors.

Chico,

Here is the thing. What happens when Trump is no longer there. Trumpism doesn't exist without Trump. Nobody has that celebrity status or charisma (good or bad) like he has. JD Vance sure hasn't got it, neither does Nikki Haley, Don Jr. etc.....

Nobody does. Like Reagan, they aren't going to be able to duplicate that success. I heard that in one state, there were 70,000 votes for Trump that didn't select any of the down ballot races. That tells you they were there voting for Trump and Trump only. Once he's gone, you can say goodbye to those voters again.

All this aside, it will be Trump remembered over Bush, Clinton and Obama in history from this period of time. Modern day Grover Cleveland feat with a comeback like this was amazing despite every measurement you and others name. He defied everything and persevered.

He’s an American Icon, this election solidifies the status.

You think a convicted sexual predator as President will be remember before the First African American President?

That’s a great historic asterisk with no achievements other than the direct delivery of Trump to the White House twice without a back to back. Gen X voters who delivered Obama terms effectively ushered out Obama’s legacy moving to back Trump a second time. And did so in damaging fashion.

It’s a full rejection of identity politics and purist elitism which Obama’s Democrat party embraced over a common sense middle class.

It matters that Trump had to overcome a strong opposition within the federal government he inherited who effectively, along with an opposition press, tried to throw him out of office with no substantive evidence or crime committed. Couple that with lawfare , DOJ prosecution, struggles within his own party, a lab leaked world wide Pandemic and multiple assassination attempts. Sorry he overcame all that…this is politics, nobody’s overcome that before.

Plus, he’s simply more interesting.

Story isn’t over, gotta mend a nation and deliver

That's not remotely true. Many of his voters actually hate him, but somehow convince themselves he's better than the Dems. My own mother doesn't like him, and still votes R because she's always voted R.

I think his cult members will remember him fondly but not the rest of civilization. Think about it, EVERY single member of his original cabinet did not endorse him except for Nikki Haley. That's unprecedented.

This comeback was due to inflation spiking. Had it not, he wouldn't be walking into the office come January. We all know that.

Wokeism which was tied to the Dems also played a substantial part, but that was an oncoming train that was heading their way for over a decade (and I'm still not sure the Dems learned that lesson given their reaction to Dem Congressman Moulton highlighting that problem).
