Re: (All about that) D thread
We made strides this year in defensive talent. Allen and Ioannidis are the first effective interior pass rushers we've had in years. Literally years and years.
Unfortunately our free agent acquisitions on the line were disappointing - McGee and McClain didn't do enough for us. So where we thought we had depth, we really didn't have enough when Ioannidis and Allen got hurt. Lanier is promising and had some moments as a rusher, but he's not consistent enough yet and is going to get moved in the run game. Our talent at MLB is still just flat out insufficient, save for Zach Brown. Compton shouldn't be on an NFL roster, and Mason Foster is OK. If you're a very good team, then OK gets you in the rotation as a depth guy. I want Very Good as my starters. We need a lot more talent, plain and simple.

Re: (All about that) D thread
All that said I'm very excited to see what Montae does in year 2. Players usually make a big jump year 1 to year 2, and there's a lot of reason to believe that will make him a very, very good player.
See if he can stay healthy enough.

I think Fabian Moreau may arrive next season, as well. We have a wealth of good young talent in the DB. That's good to see.

Have to think they're well coached. And Swearinger seems to have a very positive impact on the whole secondary. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk

Re: (All about that) D thread
We need more talent up the middle. DT and ILB...If Ryan Anderson is better at an ILB/MLB position, move him there.
in regards to pass rush...Kerrigan Murphy and Ioannidis are all extremely solid/not spectacular. I think JG has been better as the year has worn on...I would be in favor of bringing him back. Preston Smith...inconsistent, seems like a rotational guy. My feeling is this is a squad that is overall above average, you can win with. We cant go another year with McClain or Hood at NT/DT. This is unacceptable and hurts the entire defense.

Re: (All about that) D thread
I do like the image of Johnathan Allen and Matt Ionnadis next to each other in a 4-3 set, but I think we will end up as a quote unquote 3-4 base team. I want to see Ryan Anderson as an ILB, not an outside one

Re: (All about that) D thread
Also both of our free agent Dlineman disappointments McClain and McGee both came from a 4-3 alignment. Maybe their play improves as well?

Re: (All about that) D thread
I honestly think they both just suck. No idea what they saw in those two

Re: (All about that) D thread
They needed bodies that came cheap. Reading their career stats when they were first signed, I was like just sign an UFA or two. Thing is this roster is so deficient due to years of mismanagement and botched draft choices, that it will take an entire new regime to right the ship, and it won't happen overnight. Snyder is a dumbass!!!!!!!!

Re: (All about that) D thread
Anderson would be a much better fit at ilb, he can't rush at all against an NFL tackle.

To me that's also an advantage of the 4-3: you have 3 LBs behind the line of scrimmage. In the 3-4 we only have 2. And when we say we already play most of our snaps in a 4-3, it's false: we play a lot of snaps in a 4-2/nickel. Even when we have 4 guys in a 3 points stand, we only have 2 LBs behind that. Having, for say, Zach Brown (WLB), Mason Foster (MLB) and Ryan Anderson (SLB) behind Galette(/Smith), Ioannidis, Allen and Kerrigan would make us a lot stronger against the run, wouldn't it ?
