So does that mean we keep Paulsen or Cooley? Cause at this point, I would lean towards Paulsen.

I expect the TEs to be Davis, Paul, and Paulsen

Are you expecting a Cooley trade or an outright cut?

Yep and it's questionable because he just isn't very good.

Re: Redskins at Bears Post Game Thoughts

it sucks that one knee injury turns you into a crappy TE :/ I think cooley can probably play pretty well still, but since i haven't seen him on the field at all really, it's hard to tell.

that said, the zone scheme requires a good blocking TE since the RB reads inside/outside cuts based off of his ability to stop his guy, so paul and paulsen wouldn't surprise me at all.

next offseason imagine we'll be grabbing a good RT and OG and switching out hall with someone that can play better coverage. i think we got spoiled by champ and DG and springs (when healthy) and ST and all them. we've had great #1 DBs for a long time, but the defensive philosophy's changed.

Re: Redskins at Bears Post Game Thoughts

Here's an idea at TE.
Davis cant/wont block...that is essential for us.
Why not keep Cooley, Paulsen, Niles Paul, and trade Davis.
I know he has amazing upside...but he sucks at blocking which is critical for us.
He has trade value now, and paulsen can block, cooley is ok and niles paul is developing and loves to hit. We have serious needs at RT and corner and safety.
Why not replace Davis with a blocking TE like Paulsen, and add a far better RT acquired through a trade?
I would much rather give RG3 1 more second to pass and a better running game that one more great pass catcher?

Imagine a legit blocking TE and RT on the edges with developing young interior draft pick talent to shore up our Oline?...we can live without a top TE...we cant live with crappy blocking, not with a rookie QB. Cooley has hands, apparantly so does Paulsen..let the trade Davis talk begin!

Problem is Davis is a stud in the redzone and obviously we needs more options down there. Also I don't see anyone giving too much for a suspended TE from a year ago.

I can't believe anyone in their right mind would say that there's a QB controversy.

Me too. I heard quite a few calls for Cousins to start when I was listening to the radio after the game. Pretty ridiculous. Not gonna happen.

I like Cousins, but he wouldn't have played and better than RG3 given how well prepared the starters for the bears were...

So it didn't matter who was playing the Bears.. They were always going to win?

Nobody actually believes in a QB controversy, it's just not everyday you have a freshly drafted rookie throw for 260 yards and 3 TDs in two quarters of play.

Re: Redskins at Bears Post Game Thoughts

I've always hated the "game planning" argument, since we didn't game plan -- but neither did the other team.

However, anyone know if Shanny was testing something / someone out yesterday? Like the game before, it sure seemed like the strategy was to keep throwing to Banks to test him out, and keep running right to test those guys out. I wonder whether this time it was something to test the O-line (fail!), or to test the O-line with longer drops against the cover 2, etc.

Or maybe it was just a bad game.

Re: Redskins at Bears Post Game Thoughts

This just in...............Kirk Cousins had some good plays under center in week two of a PRESEASON game against a SECOND STRING defense. Can we please stop all of the talk - not only about a QB controversy - but also about all these options we have now - capable starter talk, trade bait and getting second round picks for him in four years - and everything else other than "glad the kid looked good last nite" - my God.
