Sammy Baugh is the only franchise QB the skins have drafted. That was a while ago....

He was a back up in Washington. His claim to fame is coming off the bench to help blow out Denver 42-10 in the 1987 Super Bowl while putting up big numbers. You could kind of call him a one hit wonder, that one game endears him to a lot of Redskin fans.
The rest of his career was below average compared to his peers.

He was basically Nick Foles but not as good

Cousins Graded out about the same as he always does, around 70. It's average in the NFL.

A brief write up from our team at PFF

Cousins' season can be summed up much like his previous years in
Washington: He can move the offense with well-designed passing concepts
that keep him in rhythm in games where his offense has the upper hand, but
he fails to make the tough plays required to get the job done in key games and
moments. There was some really good to Cousins'game,as he was under
duress as much as any QB in the NFL yet continued to find completions, but
the missing factors and lack of extending and creating plays on his own were
a detriment to the offense as the season wore on.

Yeah haven't seen much talent come in under Bruce at the qb position.... At all. Have to agree with Chico there. And Nate sudfled is not a viable answer at all, no.

Place is a shit show, I don't know if it will ever stop.

Yea I saw how good Cousins was when surrounded by a good team and coaches ... oh wait he put up great stats and missed playoffs .. that turnover thingy he has is still with him.. the jury is still out about Cousins as far as winning BIG games..! For the record I don’t agree how his situation was handled here but I’m not sold he was ever going to be the guy to carry this team on his back..

being a good QB doesn't mean being able to carry a team on their back. There are only a couple of guys in the NFL which can do that consistently. Guys like that are rare. If that's what you're standard is, youre always going to be disappointed. Cousins was, and still is, in the top half of starting QBs in the league. He's not ELITE. Hes not GREAT. But he is GOOD.

I agree with you ! However he didn’t want good QB money he wanted to be paid like an elite QB .. what sucks is we could have had him earlier for reasonable money .. but the powers that be Screwed all that up. And here we are with no QB for the future..

He got paid what he did because that is the going rate for qbs that can do what they do when they get to free agency. It all goes back to FO mismanagement

Edit: NVM. I don't wanna keep going down the Cousins road.

This is probably for the best, but I still can't believe some of the arguments here about that. But moving on.

Re: Bruce Allen FINALLY speaks....at the Senior Bowl

I don't care if we drafted them or picked them up from other teams, but I remember we had good QBs in the day. Someone got the ball to Charley Taylor and Art Monk, both of whom retired with the highest catch total in the history of the NFL.
I.e.,
nobody's mentioned Sonny in their "we've never had good QBs". (Never that much into Billy.)

And our near miss was Marino, who (maybe it was) Casserley? thought was the "perfect pick", but got picked up 27th by Miami before we got our pick (Darrell Green.) So that was good scouting, but possibly a "little while" ago.

From what I've read, drafting QBs (and receivers) is a crap shoot, whereas picking one up as a free agent is much more reliable (although more expensive.)

I remember reading the reason the Dolphins took Marino was because we exposed Strock or Woodley - whoever the younger one was i forget - so bad in the Superbowl. It was indirectly our fault that we missed out on him.
As for our great quarterbacks i think the hogs and Riggo and all that other talent made them great. Damn it almost hurts to remember how freakin good we were than. Fuckin Snyder.
Also i think it was Beathard. Casserly got there in 89.
