I heard on Fox 5 that Moss suffered a slight groin injury and will more than likely be ready for Detroit.

I honestly don't think this was a good choice. I understand that our receivers haven't produced that much, but I think signing Caldwell was more than enough and that we will be fine. I didn't read a lot of the posts so sorry if I missed it but does anyone know for how much we got him?

If Lloyd doesn't get on the field with Moss out, Gibbs may as well cut him. It's too bad that a guy with that kind of speed/athleticism hasn't been able to get his head on straight. If the Skins had spent the money they sank into Archuleta / Lloyd on quality interior linemen, who knows how good this team might be.

Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell

This evening I heard Chris Mortenson interview McCardell on ESPN radio. They talked about why he signed with the 'Skins and how he could help the team. I did find it interesting when Mort asked him about the offense and how familiar he was with it. McCardell said that San Diego ran almost the same thing, with some subtle differences. Do you guys think he could possibly help and be a factor? Sorry no link.

We should have kept McCardell and cut Desmond Howard when we drafted both in 1992. I've heard it said that some players knew that Howard was a monumental mistake the first week of training camp. McCardell has had a very nice career for a 12th round draft choice. He scored 9 TDs in 2005, so hopefully he has a little left in the tank. Perhaps he can show Brandon Lloyd how to prepare like a professional.

The always reliable Wiki says he's already a Redskin

Keenan McCardell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't know how I feel about this signing. I guess Saunders saw plenty of him the past few years and liked what he saw but my gut feeling is he's sort of going to be serving a role that Cooley can't play as much of because he has to stay back and block. I'd rather they focus on finding a way to get Cooley out in the passing game, and keep someone else in to block.

I don't know, it's just a shame that Patten and now Lloyd have not panned out for us (not to mention Jacobs) and we're looking to Keenan and Reche. Both are good, especially McCardell (5 years ago) but what Campbell needs more than anything is chemistry with his receivers.

I see this as insurance in case Moss has more groin troubles down the road. He'll be coming in for the veteran minimum, I don't see much to hate here.

So let's suppose Moss has to miss a game due to injury. Do you slide ARE to the number one role? or is it Keenan or Reche (Thrash? Lloyd?)

Because let's suppose it is KM, you have to adjust a lot of your offense right? I mean KM isn't the ideal receiver for those bubble screens for example

KM would probubly be the third or fourth WR until he learns the offense. I suppose we would use ARE, Thrash and either Caldwell or Loyd. I know Espy got hurt but didn't we have other WR rookies that looked pretty good in preseason? young talent?

Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell

I'm very disappointed the Redskins have decided to bring in KM and RC. Nothing against them....

Everyones heard about the 700 page playbook and the timing offense. Can anyone expect anything from KM and RC this year? Even if they had very limited plays, I doubt they will be able to develop timing with JC.
A receiver running the wrong route, Running to the wrong spot, breaking too late and too early in a route can cause plays to breakdown or even turnovers.

Lloyd has been a huge bust. But he didn't get bad overnight. He underachieved all training camp and OTAs. It's up to the coaches and management to field the best roster they possibly can while continually building for the future. If lloyd is so bad, he should've been cut before training camp.

The Redskins are trying to stack the roster at each position. They have 4 cornerbacks that have started whole seasons in the league.
They have 5 WR that have started full seasons.

at some point, You have to have young hungry players dieing for a shot.
Stephen Heyer is a perfect example. Young undrafted guy, But he fits his role on the team. He had a shot to play and he played well!
We need more guys like that. Rock Cartwright is another example, Late round pick but sticks with the team through hard work and good ST play. He has been a very good return guy and solid #3 RB. We don't need to bring in the darrick blaylocks to replace him.

A young WR who's been through training camp has more value now than some tired retread WR who is trying to learn a limited playbook.

You can have your starting players, But with enough injuries, You are going to have to play young guys who were drafted in the later rounds. Thats not a bad thing if you draft guys that fit your system.
Guys like Asante Samuels, TJ Housyourmommazdah, and Steve Smith aren't guys that started from day 1, they earned their keep and when their time came, they stepped up.

The redskins need to stop bringing in other peoples trash and start developing their own talent.

sorry for the incoherent rant, I had a tough day on a job site installing an ip phone system. AT&T decided to gang bang me and not tell me...

Btw, That chick in the mercury car commercials is freaking hot!

If the argument is that the Skins need to make a larger commitment to developing and retaining draft picks, well, I think they clearly are moving in that direction. They have been chastened by the failures of players like Lloyd and Duckett and have thus remained committed to next year's and future drafts.

But you say yourself they have to field the best team possible and I don't see anyway that McCardell as insurance can't help us this year. It's not like we have some hungry young receivers we are cutting out. We have deficiencies at that position. And it's not like we are cutting Stephen Heyer to sign some older offensive lineman, or getting rid of Ryan Clark to bring in Archuletta. We are trying to help our team this year.

So I don't see the problem with this move.

And ditto on the mercury girl.

Im pretty sure McCardell is signing for vet min,and he may be old, but I don't think he is lazy, at very least not as lazy as BL.
