Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

Ok this is how good the movie is.

Everyone knows what it feels like when your super stoked to see a big game and when it finally gets here sometimes its as good as you thought and sometimes its not. Well on a rare occasion it's actually better. It's historic. It's seminal. Well this movie is that. I felt like just sitting there in the theatre because I didn't want it to be over. I left feeling like I had just seen something that I can tell my kids someday that I saw on opening day and they'll be in awe. This movie was everything that the new Star Wars movie hype didn't live up to and outshines the efforts of Lord of the Rings by a good country mile.

Ledger lived up to every bit of the hype. In the back of your mind you know that Ledger's untimely death makes his character all the more sinister.

I kinda felt sad watching Ledger just knowing we'll never get to see how much more he could have done in film. He was really great.

I was going to see the Dark Knight tonight, but I got there too late. I got pulled over for speeding on my way to the theater.

Thankfully, the theater manager let me switch my tickets to tomorrow.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

TDK is the best movie I've seen this year (if you have an IMAX showing near you, I 100 percent recommend it on the first viewing). Nolan transcends the comic book adaptation by making it even darker. Every technical aspect of this film was perfect. Such a perfectly woven script and Ledger and Eckhart's acting stole the show. I'm not one to discount anyone's film opinion... but if someone can't appreciate this one, he/she is a cinematic maroon.

I just saw The Kingdom tonight, I definitely enjoyed it. Anyone who's into war movies should check it out.

I also watched Generation Kill tonight, I really enjoyed it and I'm probably gonna watch when the next episode airs next week. Chalk up another great miniseries for HBO.

I've been waiting for the new Apatow-Rogan... Franco is actually a funny dude when he's put in comedic roles.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

Last week I went to the theaters and I saw The Dark Knight, Step Brothers, Hancock, and Wanted all in one showing. I enjoyed all of them really, but Step Brothers wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

The Dark Knight was excellent, there were a lot of good performances in the movie and I really enjoyed it. Heath Ledger did a great job as the Joker, he should win some awards for that role.

Step Brothers, well, it was good, but I thought the humor in it was a little too old, even for someone who loves immature comedy like me. They mix 5-6 year old kid humor with cuss words. It had its' moments though.

Hancock was excellent. It was the first time I've seen a superhero movie where the actual superhero just didn't give a flying farg. Will Smith was good as usual, I like a lot of his flicks, even the ones where people think he was bad.

Wanted was great too, I liked the special effects in that movie. Nice storyline and a nice twist at the end. I wouldn't call it must see though, and I doubt anyone is going to see it in theaters now considering it should be out of theaters by now.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

I checked out Tropic of Thunder last night. Hirarious. It's a spoof on war movies and self indulgent actors. Very original and lots of good actors. Stiller, Downey Jr, Jack Black, Cruise has a small role, Nolte, and others.

They left no stone unturned....it succeeded in offending everyone. Downey Jr was amazing. He and Cruise stole the movie.
