Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Any contract being posted up here below the starting point of 33mil/yr on average is straight bullocks. DK has only had three 1,000 yard seasons. Terry has had 5 straight. Ain't no way Terry is taking less than DK. I would suspect it's something like.
4yr/140 or 3yr/105 bringing that up to 35mil avg. 70 mil guaranteed. I can see him getting a lower guarantee because he does turn 30 in September. DK is only 27.

Wilson's deal 4yr/130M including $90 million guaranteed, per Rapoport, with a $13.75 million singing bonus, a $20 million option bonus in the second year and a $10 million option bonus in Year 3. Wilson had two years remaining on his rookie contract and is now signed with the Jets through the 2030 season. Washington isn't doing a 4yr deal so the ceiling is around 3 yr 96M but i doubt Peters goes that high. If they were willing to do 32+ per year this deal would be done. Clearly they aren't. I think Terry wants the APY to start with a 3 and the team wants it to start with a 2 as for DK's deal Pittsburgh boxed themselves in a corner and overpaid substantially, AP won't be held to their overpay. Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
I see no deal. Terry will come in at some point early in the season. He’s not going to want to miss that many game checks.
We could franchise him next year but I figure we let him walk and replace him in the draft and free agency. I see this as Terry’s final year with us |

Schefter made a good point - WR's requesting a trade lately hasn't resulted in it happening. Just part of the negotiation tactics. The business side of things gets ugly but it doesn't mean they don't want Terry. Both sides just want a reasonable deal.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Age is the driving force behind the front office unwillingness to come up. After the age of 31 production for number 1s drops. Sure some exceptions
Honestly, you gotta respect the team for holding the line against unreasonable expectations.

No one is getting traded , Terry likes what he has here and they love him. A deal will get done maybe not for what he wants but maybe more in guarantee and more in years with a bigger bonus.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Who is being the petty bitch right now? At this point 1 side is being unreasonable. Either the offer stinks or Terry is asking for too much.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Need to know the offers, but I have a hard time if Terry team thinks a bigger offer than DK is reasonable at 29 years old. No 1 WR stats nosedive after age 31.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
McClaurin is not getting traded. This is a last ditch effort by him and his camp to get more out of the Commanders. He has ZERO leverage. Is he, at age 30, going to sit out a whole year? That would be career ending and cost him millions upon millions of dollars. No, he will not do that. If i am the FO i tell him and his camp to take my latest offer, and he not pull the offer on the table and he can play this year on his existing contract and even the next two via franchise tags. Saves the team a bunch of money and there is nothing he can do about it exit quit and walk away from approx. 85 million. McClaurin and his me, me, me attitude he is showing is really put me off and i am no longer a fan. IS he a good player, yes, very! Is he elite, no, far from it. And he is a greedy, greedy, lying asshat!!

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Why not give him a 2yr/70mil deal guaranteed? It's short term and satisfies both parties.

I don't blame Terry for wanting Metcalf money; that doesn't seem unreasonable to me, actually. They've been in the league the same # of years, and Terry has been steady and a total professional during some dark times. I am not saying break the bank here, but anything less than Metcalf's deal is something I would reject if I were him too. (Oh, and Terry has a better injury history than Metcalf.) My $0.02. (Sorry for the formatting -- couldn't fix.)

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
I agree with DK money but I also agree with a shorter term. I'd say 3 yrs, $95M, 65 guaranteed/3rd year voidable or the like. DK won't see all of that $150M, so Terry expecting to make a guaranteed 90+ over the next 3 years in unreasonable. TBH I think we should have re-worked his deal once we signed Daniels and had last year as year 1 of a 3-4 year deal. All this messing around will have cost both sides in the end.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
There will be no deal. Terry wants over 30 million at minimum and the team likely doesn’t want to go over $25-27 million. There’s a huge gap that will not be bridged.
Terry will miss the opener before likely coming in Week 2. He’ll play out his final year and depart in free agency in 2026. We will get his replacement in free agency or the draft. Yeah, we could franchise him but the franchise value for WR jumps up to at least $30-31 million in 26. So, if we don’t even want to pay that now; doubt we do that next year. So, my guess 25 is Terry’s final year. |

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
There are several avenues to create a win for both sides, as pointed out in other posts. If Terry really wants to stay here, he’ll accept one of them. AP and Harris aren’t going to be leveraged by TM’s public whining, and they sure as hell aren’t going to start their tenure here by overpaying. We had an owner who lacked discipline and played favorites, f that.
