That's the route I'd take.

I said last week we should play Cousins for Cleveland AND Philly to make sure RGIII is ready for Dallas and the postseason...and the long-term.

We're on a roll as a whole team right now, even the D. We can beat Philly with Cousins.

Robert Griffin III will still be Washington Redskins starter when he's healthy - ESPN

"We're going to play Robert when he's 100 percent," Shanahan said. "When that ligament's fine, when the doctors feel there's no chance for injury that he can go out there and perform at that level in a game situation without injury, we're going to go with our starter."

This does not sound like any doctor giving RGIII the green light last week.

Saw that Monty's practicing today. Mod's, can we make this a RG/Monty watch thread or something?

@granthpaulsen #Redskins practice update: Will Montgomery & Tyler Polumbus are both in uniform/helmet for practice. Not sure how much they'll get to do.

I'm not at all concerned. I'd rather RG3 sit out another week anyway. Let Cousins play at quarterback against the Eagles and let RG3 start against Dallas. We can beat the Eagles with Cousins. We then can beat Dallas with a healthier Rg3!

re: RG3 cleared to play (update)

Don't get me wrong -- I have faith in Cousins and I do think that the Redskins are a better team than the Eagles (by a fair measure). But this could be Andy Reid's last home game coaching for the Eagles, and there may be a lot of emotion going into this. I expect the Eagles to fight like hell and play like they have nothing to lose (which they don't). No one should be overlooking that team, despite the beat down we visited unto them the last time. They key will be to get an early jump on them and take their hearts out of it quickly. If we can go up a couple of TDs early, we might take the fight out of them. If they're in striking distance late in the game (or, heaven forbid, have a lead), we're going to be hard-pressed to win it. And for this reason, if RGIII is healthy, we should definitely play him.

That's one scenario and you may be right.

But it may also be true that if we take an early lead, a demoralized Iggles team folds like the French in WWII.

My point exactly -- we have to get an early lead and take the fight out of them. And I like the idea of leaving them in ruins. (Still bitter about the Body Bag Game and the Vick-beat down -- I will never forgive that.)

I like your thinking. I hope we serve the revenge dish cold.

Shoot, I figured we got revenge for the Body Bag Game, beating them later the same season. And Gibbs went on to win another SB ring later, while Buddy Ryan didn't.

The Vick Blowout at Fed-Ex, yeah the Eagles have done that to us at least twice in the Snyder era. I really don't care as long as we win another ring before they ever do.

re: RG3 cleared to play (update)

if RG3 can go, you gotta play him. I think we can beat philly with eiter guy, but 3 weeks without game time vs a not crap dallas team might be a bad idea.

RG3 will not have a drop off in production if they wait until the final game to play him. He's still getting reps in practice.....

Looks like Monty will start, though that's not official. Said he fully participated in practice and feels fine. Right arm is just bruised.
