Re: Gibbs' take on Campbell's situation
Good article. And I hope they had a good discussion. Certainly after his first year, Zorn has got to have some pretty solid questions, and I can't think of anyone else I would rather him get answers from (a close second would be Holmgren). If he is adept at learning, as I believe he is, he certainly has good sources to go to and get advice from the best. I am still high on Zorn and hope he makes the necessary corrections to lead this team to a bright future!

Re: Gibbs' take on Campbell's situation
I am pretty sure that Gibbs has a bit of knowledge gained over both stints that would help JZ. Remember Gibbs knows what that 2nd year feels like.

Nah, a HOF coach has nothing to offer a 2nd year guy. Please.

Re: Gibbs' take on Campbell's situation
I think Gibbs was sticking up for JC with that comment. The comment about JC needing to buck up by Wise was a little odd as JC has done nothing but buck up all offseason.

Re: Gibbs' take on Campbell's situation
I think JC MUST realize there is a reason why nobody is looking at QB options in New England, Indy, or Pittsburg.

Re: Gibbs' take on Campbell's situation
I have gained more respect for JC than I had before this stuff started. I think it's great that Gibbs and Zorn talk. Only good things can come out of it.

Re: Gibbs' take on Campbell's situation
I agree with all of the positive comments about JC's classiness.
I would add somewhat the same about Zorn. He has been respectful towards Gibb's legacy all along and he took that respect to a new level by visiting with Gibbs. Rather than completely change everything to make the Redskins "his" team (and thereby implicitly making Gibbs look inept), Zorn has shown humility and an openness to learning and growing. Good job JZ.

Re: Gibbs' take on Campbell's situation
Would be nice if he did, but the thing is damage was done regardless. I know some of the Brennan folks and other want JC to get benched or not resigned if we falter this year, but JC might just decide to take off and land himself with a contender if we do fall by the wayside. People can forgive Skins4L, but they usually don't forget, meaning JC just might use the Cutler/Sanchez drama as an excuse to jump ship if he feels the franchise isn't going anywhere. Let's face it, the FO hasn't really done anything lately to give him help. No real positive picks or FA pickups for the O line(except Dockery, and that isn't so great of an upgrade), a real shaky WR corp(Moss, plus a bunch of unproven scrubs), and of course the Cutler/Sanchez trade dramas. To be honest, if I was JC and jerked around like I have, with a team that really has lots of holes in it, if I am lucky to survive the season I would really consider bolting if the season ended up being another disappointment. I mean JC is at the point in his career where he will want to position himself on a solid contender. He has his $$$$$$$$$ already. |

Just to throw some food for thought out there, I doubt that there is any type of serious interest out there for a QB like Jason Campbell. In both the Cutler and Sanchez attempts the FO was trying to unload JC on the other team as part of the trade bait. This may be irrelevant, but I find it funny that the only time that Vinny and Danny failed to make the blockbuster trade was when they tried to get rid of JC in the process. My theory is that if he does not have a stellar year, then he will either be a backup or out of the league by 2010. Even if he does have a fairly good season his only shot at a big payday might be with Washington. At this time he has no leverage; he can only play football and prove himself. |

That said, I would be shocked if he doesn't light up the NFL this year. (I am really hoping that Romo, Sanchez and Cutler all flop - yes you can call me petty) |
