I agree. I think it would do better playing on Sundays starting two weeks after the Super Bowl with a "draft" held each year the week between Conference Championships and the SB. Only players not on an NFL roster could be drafted (practice squad is fine) so they would all be players trying to prove that they should be invited to a camp.

I'd rather watch Arena ball. Something about a league full of NFL castoffs doesn't really appeal to me. At least the Arena league isn't trying to be something it's not.

I agree to an extent and used to be into Arena, but now I can only watch the same exact play so many times in a game. It's good for what it is but not a lot more.

I do remember when the WLAF was around though when I was like 7-9 and enjoyed that. Some good players have come through other leagues; Jim Kelly, Herschel Walkey, Steve Young, Reggie White (all USFL iirc). I guess the part that appeals to me is that it's more of a pro-style game. I love the college atmosphere but sometimes the level of talent is too skewed in one direction, game is too gimmicky, play not fluid enough, etc and I think that sometimes you can get a more smooth league out of the "secondary" leagues.

They really should have tried to figure out a way to get more than 4 teams for the inaugural season though, that alone drops the interest in my mind.

I'd like to see the best UFL team vs the Detroit lions just to see how far off the leagues are

Now that's a good idea. Fail Bowl I.

I am up in the air about this, I just hope that they don't keep comparing this league to the NFL like the announcers did from the XFL, it just got annoying and made me turn it off. I mean I get it, its not the same as the NFL. I got that fact from the day it started, they did not need to remind me every 5 seconds!!!!

I can see this league being bought out by the NFL and perhaps end up turning into their minor league equivalent. Kind of what NFL Europe used to be.

I think that's kind of what they're hoping

I don't enjoy watching bad movies nor do I enjoy watching bad players attempt to play professional football. Ugh.

I think the minor league system works so well in baseball, shame it isn't in Football or Basketball.

You ever watch college ball? Plenty of players out there that won't even make it to the UFL. There are guys that hit the CFL and then get some recognition, there were people in the USFL that did the same, etc. Think of the undrafted guys who sometimes show up as decent players, sure there aren't a ton, but this can give some of the guys who didn't get picked up a chance to be scouted past college. To me it's kind of the replacement for the rounds 8-12 that used to be in the draft. Who knows how good it will end up being, but I'll have no problem giving it a shot.

I'll take a wait and see approach on this whole UFL thing. Never cared for the arena league.

I'll take a look when they get going and see if its worth my time, although not very high expectations. I'm certainly ready for some football, REDSKIN STYLE!

Re: Ex-SKIN, "Arch" to join the UFL

Assuming that we all get to see a UFL game sometime, here is a really important thing to keep in mind:

Do NOT judge the games by the standard of an NFL game between two of the top NFL teams.

The quality of play will NOT be there. Think about it; if the players in the UFL were comparable with the players on a top level NFL team, they would be somewhere in the NFL on a roster somewhere - - - and they are not. By definition, this is a "minor league" with players competing against other "minor leaguers"

Look at the UFL games analytically - - as if you were a scout. Don't root for or against anyone. Just focus on individual players and see how they perform. Whan there is a replay - - if you see a game on TV - - don't even look at the ball; watch the OL and DL to see who stands out and/or who sucks.

This is the value of the UFL. Don't worry about Archuletta; just about everyone knows he can't play in the NFL anymore. Look for other players who seem to have the ability to move up to become guys on an NFL roster who may or may not dress for any given game on a random weekend. That's what most of the UFL players ought to aspire to. That's what viewing the UFL is all about...

Re: Ex-SKIN, "Arch" to join the UFL

I think the hilarious point that we've skipped over is that WE made him the highest paid safety in the HISTORY of the NFL back in 2006. Now he's not even in the NFL.

I think we've turned the corner, and I think Snyder & the FO are better now. I agree w/signing Haynesworth, Hall, Dock, and *young* promising players that have potential for years. Fletcher has been phenomenal. But geez, it's good to reflect on the really bad ones as well -- Arch, Duckett, D.Sanders, B.Smith, JTaylor... Sigh..
