I just watched myself, they didn't show the whole interview tonight on Comcast live. That just shows what a true class act JJ really is and has been to sit there at I'm sure one of the most difficult times in his life.

The Lions are sure signing a lot of vets. I think they'll be better but did they look at the film on Jansen?

At the very least hes good depth for a bad team looking to improve. Hes not as bad as people have made him out to be. Usually when players go to a new team they get rejuvenated. I think its a perfect fit for the Lions and Jansen.

I agree. At the worst he's giving them a veteran backup presence along that OL. At best maybe he can squeeze a decent season out of himself as a starter.

It will probablt be a good signing since the Lions will be a running team and not a west coast passing team. Schwartz is a defensive minded coach from that Jeff Fisher mode.

Saw this on Rotoworld yesterday...

Jansen, 33, will sign for the veteran minimum if he passes a physical on Monday. The former Michigan Wolverine is expected to compete for the starting right tackle job with last year's first-rounder Gosder Cherilus. Both players struggled last season, but the Lions would obviously prefer if Cherilus earned the starting nod.

thanks for posting that. I just went to their webpage (I know, I could've done so before I posted my question) & saw a no. of tackles on the roster. They signed a couple free agents & George Foster was re-signed as their RT in 08. Wonder if he's hurt?

It doesn't look good for JJ at T at this point, but it could come down to health. I won't be surprised if he does or doesn't make the roster, but I will be very surprised if he starts over a healthy Cherilos or Foster.

Cherilus should win the job but I wouldnt be shocked if Jansen beat him out. I never underestimate a man on a mission. Jansen wants to prove everyone wrong and it wouldnt shock me if with a new team he does just that.
