Re: Bring back Stephen Davis
Haha that really pissed me off at the time, thankfully we dont have that chemistry and drama. Lack of focus like that lead to teams like the Jets smashing us.

Re: Bring back Stephen Davis
According to RedskinRadio, the only contact between Davis and the Redskins was initiated by Davis. The Redskins "like" Davis, but are happy with the RBs on the roster.

Re: Bring back Stephen Davis
At least give Davis a tryout. Who knows he could be a short yardage goal line masher like Gerald Riggs was.

Re: Bring back Stephen Davis
If this were 5 years ago, I'd say sure. Davis has been more of a liability to the Panthers than an asset and he wouldn't make a miracle comeback with us.
We have RB depth. We could use the roster spot better in SO many other ways. |

1444 yards rushing; 14 TDs; and zero fumbles lost in 2003? A liability? Not sure I see any support for that statement.

He has a history of fumbling, which he never got under control. I like SD & would be glad to see him back, but I think Gibbs' main concern would be his fumbling, in addition to his age, health. |

Re: Bring back Stephen Davis
From what I saw Saturday, we already have a great short yardage alternative in Mike Sellars. Much as I love Davis, this is not an area of need.

Re: Bring back Stephen Davis
Lets not forget that until last year he held our rushing record, and the last time we made the playoffs it was pretty much on his back. Like others have said I would let him on for the VET min, get one more year and let him get a piece of that SB dream.

Re: Bring back Stephen Davis
I think the answer is fairly simple ... he does not want to play here.

I'm not sure the offensive philosophy of Al Saunders requires a bruising back who has gotten progressively slower in the past few years.

Re: Bring back Stephen Davis

washingtonpost.com Davis in the Market Former Redskins running back Stephen Davis, a free agent who has suffered through serious injuries in recent years, is shopping his services around the NFL and contacted the Redskins, team officials said. Washington expressed no immediate interest, and he visited Philadelphia yesterday. Davis, once the franchise's single-season rushing leader, was released by Carolina in the offseason and was expected by some to retire. The Redskins appear comfortable with their running backs, and signed rookie free agent A.J. Harris last week. |
