So you feel the numbers being publicized about unemployment are not accurate? How so? Are they too high or too low than what is being reported weekly / monthly, etc...

Re: Coronavirus (political)

Just reading that Harvard got $9M from the small business stimulus... wtf is going on here?? Why are publicly traded companies and a fucking university getting money from this?? Meanwhile the public is getting $1200 which barely covers rent or a mortgage for most people. Where the hell is our bailout??

That seems weird. Do you happen to have the article to link? I only ask because it could be that Harvard is the parent corporation of a small business - it's common for universities to own little research companies or other little business ventures that grew from recent innovation. It could be that small business picked up the $9M and it's being reported as Harvard receiving as the parent corporation.

Still, your point stands, I don't think that's what we the public have in mind when we think of small business relief. We think of the pizza shop on the corner.

Why Is Harvard Getting $9 Million In Stimulus Money When It Has A $40 Billion Endowment?

Re: Coronavirus (political)

I would be willing to venture an educated guess many of those companies on that list are suffering no ill effects from the Corona-virus or it has little impact on them.

It's a win/win, Trump gets to claim he's trying to help Americans but it's the banks fault for prioritizing those customers.

I haven't known anyone that collected unemployment in ages and I personally collected it once and that was 40 years ago. I thought unemployment only paid about 1/2 a person's typical take home pay if they were making modest wages and way less than 1/2 if you were a high earner. In that article people believe they make more on unemployment than working, is that correct? Did unemployment befits rates increase? If so when, or is this just because of the pandemic?

You've read several stories about workers that rely on tips not being able to survive on base salary alone?

Spa workers typically rely on tips.

I've been to a spa once or twice. The lady that scraped the barnacles off my feet got a $20 tip for 30 minute service. The massage therapist get $20-$40 tip and double that if she provides the old kung fu death grip.

Some of these people that rely on tips are hard working and make good money, just not on base salary which can be less than minimum wage(Waitresses).

It's too bad there was no way to take this seriously when China was quarantining Wuhan and all those other cities.
