Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft

I don't think we need to move up in THIS draft, so much as I think that a third rounder this year for a second rounder next year (and maybe an additional late rounder) would be good value. I feel like this year, we can move definitely add some depth in the later rounds, but as the picks get higher, the odds of them panning out gets lower.

Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft

Updated draft hopes

Round 1 RG3
Round 2 Mike Adams OT Ohio State
Round 3 Traded for 2nd round pick
Round 4 Traded for 2nd round pick
Round 4 Philip Blake C Blaylor
Round 5 Eddie Pleasant, SS Oregon
Round 6 Ryan Broyles WR Oklahoma
Round 7 Vontaze Burfict ILB Ariz St.

UDFA: Kellen Moore, QB Boise St.

I do want an explosive running back but not as much as I want to protect RGIII. We should resign Hightower, then grab our explosive RB next year.

I like the players in your mock although I think trading into the 2nd round will cost more then a 3rd+4th.

Mine hasn't changed too much from this:

I thought our 2nd rounder this year was part of the deal to move up to #2?
Edit - Sorry, I undertsand now, I thought in your scenario you were talking about trading the 3rd and 4th for a #2 next year...my bad

Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft

Vontaze Burfict was decent at Arizona St. but has had a very poor combine and a horrible pro day. Either he wasn't in shape, or he's not cut out to play in the NFL. If the Redskins draft him, I would surely be surprised.

Reminds me a lot about the concerns of Brandon Spikes. Is he still with the Pats? Any good? I haven't paid any attention

If Burfict goes undrafted, then I wouldn't mind seeing him signed as a rookie free agent. Going undrafted may snap Burfict out of whatever has been wrong with him. But based on his berserk performances at the NFL combine and pro day, the Redskins, or no other team for that matter, should waste even as much as a 7th round draft pick on him.

IMO Burfict will end up in baltimore in the 3rd round they have the support team to turn him around.

Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft

Roy Helu is explosive but he is not Darren Sproles, LaMicheal James, Percy Harvin, Stephfon Green, Chris Rainey styled running back. Helu has great straight line running speed but he doesn't have the vision to cut back and see lanes like others IMO.

Burfict in the 7th round would be a steal. 7th round pick's rarely make the team and the salary they recieve is negligible. Sitting for one year playing special teams and learning from fletcher about maturity, it's also great Daniel's is here to keep an eye on him.

Thought I'd share..... something I've been warning about a possibility of the Colts taking RG3....

Irsay says Colts still undecided on QB - Rich Tandler's Real Redskins
