Really, even counting posts means nothing. Our software at boastingrights.com does that too but it's worthless information. Some smart people don't post much and some with limited info post like crazy.

I don't think it would be at all a hassle. If it's a hassle to you, then don't use it. vBulletin has set it up in a way that discourages abuse.

I can guarantee to you that A LOT of people on here consider the post count a measuring stick. By using rep points, it would discourage that and at the same time encourage responsible posting.

I don't like change either, but I think that this would be a very minor change that may produce positive results.
