But for the record I agree with you. Shanny rested his starting QB tonight, and Rex will start week one. That way should the wheels fall off the Grossman train, he can put in his pet project in Beck. If he starts Beck from the jump and he sucks, he looks less sharp as a HC for hitching so much of his giddyup on a 30 year old never-was...

I think Shanny just wanted to even the reps out, that's all. I didn't read anything into him starting Beck over Rex other than having equal amount of game film and reps to evaluate them respectively.

That said, I think he'll go with Beck for the very opposite reason you think he'll go with Grossman. I think Beck still has some upside and he hasn't mastered this system at all. If Beck fails, then he can defer to the crafty veteran on the bench, Rex Grossman. I think Beck will be the starter week one.
