I knew the SEC was overrated. Little doubt that they're the best conference with their top teams, however the idea that their bottom feeders could easily beat other conferences is a bit of an overstatement.

Anyway, there were no SEC - Big Ten match ups this year during the regular season. Coming into the Bowl season, over the past five years, the Big Ten had an 8-7 lead over the SEC (after going 2-1 against the SEC in the 2006-2007 bowls).

The SEC leads the Pac-10 62-39-5 (.608). However, over the past 12 years (1998 - 2009), the Pac-10 actually leads the SEC 11-9 (.550).

VS Big XII: Over the past 12 years ('98 -'08) the SEC holds a 24-17-0 (.585) advantage.

VS ACC: Over the past 12 years ('98 -'08) the SEC holds a 24-17-0 (.585) advantage.

So there you have it. The SEC has dominated the ACC and Big XII in recent years but has had problems against the Pac-10 and Big 10. They're the best conference in college football but I'm tired of the idea that the SEC is the only conference that has a tough conference schedule. This argument becomes more prominent when an SEC team isn't selected for the National Championship game.
