Nylander put on waivers

It appears more news broke while I was at 35,000 feet this afternoon. According to Bob McKenzie's twitter page - and now confirmed by a Caps official - Michael Nylander has been placed on waivers.

The move does not, however, mean that a trade/loan/minor league assignment is imminent, I'm told. For now, it only means Nylander has agreed to waive his no movement clause - which, of course, is the first step toward moving his $4.875 million cap hit elsewhere.

The Caps, I'm told, are continuing to mull their options with regard to the veteran center, who has not suited up for the Caps since the playoffs.

Nylander will clear waivers at noon tomorrow if no team claims him.
