I think more than stupid, it is just arrogant, but hey that is the Cowboy way.

That's because Jerry knows that if he raises his chin too high all the stitches and staples will pop and the leather mask that is his face will go flying out of his luxury box and onto the field where it will become a banana-peel like obstacle that could end up getting someone hurt. And no one wants that.
