Re: Stallworth to serve 30 days

DS drinking that night then driving was , to see the least a bad decision . Not going to judge him , or the victim . Living here in NO. VA. It is amazing more people do not get hit by cars ,,,, people run out in front of cars < moving at 40-50 mph > all day ??? I watched a women this past Sunday , pushing a stroller with one hand , and dragging a 3 yr old with the other across rt 50 , very dangerous . Today , I watched a girl walk right in front of a car < NOVA campus , Alex. > , I pod in her ear , she never saw the car , he slowed very quickly and stopped . Maybe we should punish people for being in the road on foot , Im brave but no way I take on a 3,000 lb car . STAY out of the road , you will lose , take a minute to get to the X Walk and wait .

This is really hard to read. But I get what you're saying. People are idiotic. It's amazing the way pedestrians just ignore shit when they're near intersections, streets, etc etc. The worst are cyclists. They ride on the damn road like they have every right to it as an automobile. And I understand technically they do, it just pisses me off when you're on a two lane road, there's a line of cars stuck behind some jerk in spandex on his 10 speed. They want all the rights that cars have, then they proceed to run through stop signs and red lights like they don't exist.

Me too. They're either very trusting or complete idiots.

They do have the same rights. It's not all that often that you'll get a line of traffic stuck behind a cyclist as most cars have no problem shooting right around one. I always make sure to move over as far as safely possible when being trailed, it's too dangerous to get too close to the edge of the road or the center-line. People just hate to have to slow down a bit and are too impatient. You'll spend less time behind a cyclist in a month than you will at a single stoplight in NoVA in most cases.

I cut through Rock Creek Park at least 3 or 4 days a week. I spend too much time behind cyclists. My big beef isn't so much that they're on the road. It's that they want every right a car has, and then (for the most part, but not all) they ignore things like stop signs. Just rubs me the wrong way.

I'm glad the league dropped the hammer on Stallworth. He should receive a suspension AT LEAST as long as his 'confinement' lasts. He needs to be at every rookie symposium from this day forward as an example of how a stupid decision can cost you everything.

I agree with you. I myself am a cyclist and it kills me when others don't follow the rules. (I've also noticed that a lot of these same jerks don't wear helmets.)
I'm sure this behavior is the reason that, when I was hit head-on in a triathlon by a motorist who insisted on entering the course, who then started screaming at me afterwards (forget an apology), they only fined him $35 for reckless driving. In fact, the police wouldn't even come over to talk to me! As for me, I was in excruciating pain for a month while I was trying to increase the range of motion in my knee to 90 degrees. And my bike was totaled of course.

(By the way, I am OK with not stopping at a stop sign on an uphill when there's no traffic there.)

Holy crap! I had to read that line like five times before I realized you were saying she had an iPod. Here I was thinking you had done some sort of graphic R. Kelly type of act on her. I was kinda disturbed...but curious at the same time

I cut through Rock Creek on my way to my Dad's yesterday, and as I was pulling up to a stop sign, a line of bikers 6 or 7 people long was coming down the hill to my left. It was an all-way stop, and I sat there and watched all of them cruise right through the stop sign like it wasn't there while I was waiting. It was a beautiful day here in DC, so I had the windows down and sunroof open. Trust me, I let those jackasses know how I felt. My girlfriend looked at me like I was nuts. Oh well. Maybe next time they'll consider STOPPING at a STOP sign. I doubt it though.

To me the most interesting part of this whole thing is the comparison to Vick. Vick's crimes are obviously pretty sh*tty but in the end he went to the poke for a long dam time for killing some dogs and DOnte killsanother human and ends up serving 30 days and 2 years home confinement. What the hell is wrong with our priorities in this country?
Well as you said, if Stallworth wasn't drinking he very well could've been found not guilty. Who's to say the drinking had anything at all to do with the guy's death? Vick was sponsoring a major dog fighting ring and lied to pretty much everyone, including the feds. If Vick would've just come clean when this first came out he might have done very little jail time. But I see your point, is a dog's life worth more than a humans?? No.
