Re: Portis Apologizes For Dog Fighting Comment

Portis is not a bad guy. He's a proud guy. I'm sure he has been trying to figure out a good way out with out kissin' some ass. What he said to the press was...........INCREDIBLY stupid.
I imagine he spoke mostly in ignorance rather than with malicious intent. Is he wrong to defend (alleged) felonious behavior by MV? I think so. This was compounded by the barbaric nature of the alleged acts and subsequent crimes. If he had it to do over again, I'm sure he would find another to phrase it, and defend Vick, rather than get ass handed to him in the news.
Yes, he exercised his freedom of speech rights. The tempest of negative press was in turn execised by other constitutionally empowered Americans.

Oh BTW, did he sound sincere in his subsequrent interviews regarding his original comments? No, I did not read anywhere that he said he was wrong, or that the dog fighting is wrong. However, it is America, and he gets to feel, and say what he wants

To which you responded with something along the lines of "Well those don't count really. And they'll have to do make the playoffs a few years in a row to win my trust back"
They will have to become winners again (which means a few playoff appearances in a row) before I believe this organization is no longer disfunctional.
