Re: Potential trades
It's the NFL. Injuries happen and can unpredictably. You don't fear this risk for when the reward is excellence. He has been healthy all year and is still a great corner. You honestly think we could have competed in the playoffs with our corners pre Lattimore? No way. This is why this move was made. We have a rock star qb finally on a rookie contract. The window is now.
What was your plan if you are opposed to getting Lattimore? |

Lattimore has injury concerns and is the second highest paid CB in the NFL. For a 3rd, it’s a low risk trade that should pay off immediately. |

Re: Potential trades
OK got it. I keep having nightmares how AJ Brown torched our secondary next year. I don't want that to happen again by any team. Getting a real #1 corner will help a lot. Interested to see how it works out but like the bold move by AP. Peters seems to have a great balance on when to make big moves (Lattimore) and when to stay on the sidelines (Aiyuk).

Re: Potential trades
I am still trying to figure out why the Saints did this. They have serious cap issues, so they trade their bsst player at a premium position for basically a 3rd and 4th and took a $30 million cap hit. Does that make sense to anyone?

Re: Potential trades
Saints need to rebuild and need players to be on rookie contracts. Also they may need draft capital for any type of movement in the draft.

Re: Potential trades
Saints and Lattimore restructured the contract prior to the trade, I assume the restructure adjusted the amount of cap hit.

Re: Potential trades
from what i read his current contract is:
2024: $605,000 2025: $18m 2026: $18.5m no guarantees/cap hit if cut (well possibly injury guarantees, those are pretty common). the team has the cap space, the only risk is value for the picks. Needed a CB #1 to push everyone else down a spot, and this is probably the best you're going to be able to do to make that happen. |

My plan would've been to stay the course and keep the draft capital. As I said though, I trust Peters and think this move is ok. I'm just not over-the-moon about it.

Re: Potential trades
I do hope Lattimore can be a bit more disciplined in our scheme. The good news is that we've already played Tampa -- he seems to get into a fight with Mike Evans twice a year. The price wasn't low, especially when considering what AP has been able to do with draft picks, but shutdown corners are pretty hard to come by in the league and we will now have one under contract for 2 1/2 years. He could really help others hit their potential -- our D line will get some coverage sacks, and BSJ won't be exposed by WR1s all the time, not to mention Sanristil gets to go back to the slot which is his strength. One guy like this can make multiple players better. I cannot wait to see it.

Re: Potential trades
The trade value was incredibly low for a CB1 on this defense. We have Miami's 3rd for Dotson, we gave them our 3rd which should be near the end of the round. We gave up our 4th but got their 5th, which will be a drop of around 15 spots. And we gave them their own 6th back.
For a CB who hasn't allowed a td in man coverage since 2021. Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

Re: Potential trades
You know damn well that this team prior to getting Lattimore could not beat the big boys in the playoffs. Our corners were a liability. You are against getting a 4 time pro bowler cb at 28 years old for draft capital. Guess what? We still have plenty of draft capital also.
You are fearing greatness because you just said you'd rather keep draft capital with our corners pre Lattimore which would not work. Having a legitimate #1 cb gives us a chance for greatness in the playoffs. We did not have this prior to Lattimore. |
