I'm all for giving Shanahan another year to prove he's the guy to turn things around, but it sounds like if the front office is not willing to give him an extension (and right now I do have to say there's more reason not to) then I doubt Mike would stay as a lame duck head coach. The flip side is that he's said on many occasions that he told Snyder 'unless you're going to give me the full 5 years, don't hire me'. So if I'm Snyder I'm throwing that right back at him. I'll give you the full 5 years but nothing more until you prove to me you've earned another 3. Make him match the commitment...if that's the route they choose.
