Beethoven - Anyone who can compose entire orchestral pieces without hearing is the man!

Hendrix - 'nuff said.

Dr. Dre - This probably won't be popular among the non-traditional instrument crowd, but he's revolutionized the way Pro-Tools can make your ear pop.

Just to piggy back on the rap/hip-hop theme; I would have to throw Erik B. & Rakkim in there.

The whole west coast movement of the 90s and 2000s, in my opinion, were built on the successes of the 80s by artists such as Erik B. and Rakim. They are among the patriarchs of rap in my humble opinion.

I was gonna go with Mozart over Beethoven

Prince/Michael Jackson/Stevie Wonder-from like 1974 to 1984 that was the power trio (in my opinion)

James Brown

I'm going to exclude classical/baroque/romantic musicians and composers because they'd dominate the list if we were being realistic.

TOP 3 from Pop Culture:

3) Freddy Mercury
2) Michael Jackson
1) John Lennon/Paul McCartney

Speaking of Tool I'll be seeing them this summer on 7/14, can't wait!

I'm watching some ebay auctions for really good tix, I don't care about paying the extra $$ to see them up close.

Re: Top Musicians/Artist of All Time

I would have to go with
Bob Dylan = Best poet in our life time.
Jimi Hendrix=revolutionized how to play the electric guitar. Rock & Roll hasn’t been the same since.
Elvis Presley = The Man was the King! Nuff said.

It's really tough to say, but if I had to choose three I would go with: (1) James Brown; (2) The Beatles; and (3) Elvis.

That would be Brad Nowell if you are still wondering.

1.Beethoven (moonlight sonata is one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard)
2.Outcast(spottieottiedopaliliscious is a bad ass track)
3.Aerosmith(They get in my top three on longevity alone, although Steven tyler writes some of the best love songs of all time)
