Portis Interview 9/9
I just checked out a new video that was posted on redskins.com and they were talking directly to Portis who says he is 6% away from being ready to go. He says he felt 10% better than yesterday and if he can feel another 6% better between now and Monday he is a go. All serious, physical practices are done before the game so he will have no contact between now and game time and he said that helps because he can just stretch it out and seee how it feels. This is crazy, yesterday he was eyeing week 2 now it's looking much better for Monday Night???

I hope he's not rushing himself and dislocate his shoulder again. I think Betts and Duckett will do a good job filling in for Portis.

My man's jerking the press around with the 85%, 95% bs talk. No way he doesn't play on MNF.

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
Maybe he should dress to make himself feel better, but Betts/TJ got this game. This is a big game but why risk anything. Risk is what put him in this perdicament. I'd be fine with him sitting this one out. Surely he shouldn't go in the first half at all. I think this would be a good time to get TJ involved and let him loose. It is good to hear that he is getting better but it seems way to earlier to lay it on the line for just the Vike's.

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
I told you guys, this is all "cageyness" to play with the Viking's heads. If he can play, why would he backup Betts or Duckett? I caught all of those quirkly little sly grins on his face during that interview today. I am saying right now he will be starting on Monday night! I don't know how effectiive he will be and I would not start him at RB for my Fantasy team if I were any of you, but he will play. All of the 93.6% ready and "I'll be 96% ready tomorrow" stuff is his character stuff coming out. He is feeling good and Gibbs told him to keep it hush-hush, and he can't hardly do it! Rock on Portis!!!

Sounds like a little bit of Strategy. Lets hope he doesn't fumble when he takes a lick on that shoulder though or reaggravate it.

I have said all along. The man will play. The more they said he wouldn't the more convinced I was that he would.

Good ol' Portis. He wouldn't want to miss the fun. |

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
Man I thought I was getting excited, then I listened to this interview- now I am flat out fired up!
After I heard CP's interviewe and listened to a couple of short bites from Moss, these guys seem very cocky, much more than last year. I can't wait to see how we shake out. |

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
This doesn't make any sense.
If he's well enough to play, but not well enough to start, what difference does it make if he spells Betts here and there for 10 carries or so? Even in a limited role the same thing could happen -- he can re-dislocate his shoulder. The chance of that happening doesn't decrease simply because he's lower on the depth chart by one position. To me, the thought of Portis coming back early doesn't get me excited, it only makes me nervous. We'll be fine for one game against the Vikings with Betts, Duckett, and Cartwright. Why not give him just one more week to completely heal up? |

Who knows what Saunders is going to do though. They might designate Portis as the backup just so they can see how Betts does in there. If Betts is effective why even put Portis in. If Betts sucks and the Skins need a boost, then maybe Saunders will unleash the hound. Lots of variables at play. I'm sure they're taking every precaution with him. In the end we have no idea what the plan is, the coaches are being very shady lately, very secretive.
